You should definitely see a gastroenterologist as soon as possible, but in the meantime, if it were me, I'd make some adjustments in my diet.
I'd eat a bland diet -- no heavy spices, gravies, etc. I'd eliminate seeds and nuts of any kind. This includes granola. I'd eat much less fat -- this includes avocados, croissants, chips, whoopie pies.
Also, don't eat within 3-4 hours of going to sleep for the night so your food can digest properly.
You can google the type of diet for diverticulosis/itis or even gallbladder disease to see the types of foods that shouldn't be eaten. Try this and see if it helps reduce your pain.

op here , thankyou everyone for thoughts and advice. i am sorry, i didnt mean to ask for a Dx . when i posted i was kind of thinking out loud. i actually searched for older Diverticulitis posts but the threads on lt had one post. i have made a dr appt but it is in 2 weeks, my Gastro doc is a sole practitiiner and it is his vaca time . he said to stop all fatty foods, no chips, no snacks, no berries, no salads. meanwhile i am eating a bland sort of BRAT diet but also soft boiled eggs. very bland plain diet. hope i can keep this up!
@RedTop the way you described lettuce in your system, that is what happens to me. then the salad just kind of sits there in my system. wondering bout the H.Pylori too becuase every time i eat something i feel sort of sick and the food feels like a lump in my stomach. and i have agita real bad too. he'll want to do an endoscopy i'm sure of it.

If the gastro can't figure it out, he/she will say it's IBS (irritable bowel) and ask you to return every four to six weeks. I say to watch your diet and try on your own to narrow down what's causing the problem.

I would also recommend staying away from dairy until you see the doc. You could be lactose intolerant. Lactaid tabs are very helpful if you do want to eat some dairy. There are many substitutes out there which are delicious. I don't even think of drinking milk anymore, nor ice cream (which I love).
Remember eggs are not dairy. Some people think they are. I eat four to six eggs a week, prepared various ways.
Good luck. I hope you are feeling better.
