@goldensrbest   If the rash area is an open sore and bleeding, it could become infected and make an older person susceptible to sepsis which could be very serious.  This needs to be taken care of immediately.

Oh, sorry. I missed the open wound part. True

I had a friend that had an itchy red rash under her breasts which turned out to be yeast from moisture.

The dr gave her a steroid powder which worked wonderfully.

At 87, I would take her to the doctor.

I get that in the summer when it's really hot from not wearing a bra when I'm at home. I use tea tree oil straight. I know not supposed to do that but I do. The area turns bright red but kills the yeast & it goes away. If someone wants to try the tea tree oil just mix it with a carrier oil.

I can't use dial. It gives me a rash for some reason. This happened to me years ago. My doctor told me to stop using it. I use homemade soaps from a couple of local farmers plus Beekman or Goat Milk Stuff.

DH has a rash right now that we are trying to figure out what caused it?

I have this issue and I use Under Breast Deodorant from an online company called La Parea. I was tired of the powder solutions caking up under my bra. And I wasn't comfortable using hydrocortisone and anti fungals on a long term basis. You have been given some effective suggestions but for me the deodorant has been the answer and I highly recommend. I had a tough case and I stumbled across La Parea on the internet. It's a little expensive but well worth it. Good luck with this!

Edit to say: my rash was gone in less than two days and I use daily for maintenance. My rash has never come back. Freedom!

Hey, unless it really hurts and is an actual gapping wound. I personally would try the antibacterial soap. Like I said previously he might just think it's a mild bacterial infection and wants to start out with an otc simple solution first to see if the rash responds.  Of course keep a close eye on it and , which I'm sure you already know, if it gets worse then go from there. Of course, I'm no expert in rash care, I'm just saying what I'd personally feel comfy doing. I hope it gets better, rashes aren't fun. I get eczema rashes from time to time

@sligo   See your doctor for medication to control incontinence.  Use an incontinence pad.  That should solve your problem.

If it were me then I would follow my doctor's orders and if things don't improve then seek another doctor's opinion.
