I no longer take medication since changing my diet and losing weight that has improved my A1C (as some of you know and have read my story here) But a lasting effect of diabetes has been neuropathy. My feet always feel like I am wearing socks. My 4th and 5th toes on both feet feel as if they are covered (such a wierd feeling) It's not painful just the feel as if I have socks on. Anyone know what I am talking about? Has anyone had that feeling and if so have you found a solution or spoke to your Doctor about it? I have an appointment next month but I really don't think there is much to be done about it. It's just a complication of the diabetes.

I feel great, no other issues just this wierd feeling in my feet. Woman LOL

@Goodie2shoes

I take Andrew Lessman's Capillary and Vein  supplement and feel a noticeable difference in my legs late in the day. I also take his cinnamon supplement ...it helps me. My blood sugar typically runs high but not enough to require meds. Still, I can tell if I eat more sugar I have numbness in my feet.

Look at Gabapentin aka Neurontin.  I'm not saying I recommend it or not, just that I believe it is a treatment for neuropathy.

My gynecologist uses it off-label and at a much lower dose for night sweats which I have.  I'm currently taking a new non-hormonal drug as a try-out, but Medicare won't pay for it, so that's next on the list.

Re: Diabetic Neuropathy

    I so understand. I lost most of my pancreas over ten years ago to tumors in that organ. Without most of my pancreas, I no longer produce nor use insulin effectively.  I became an instant diabetic and take over 200 units of insulin a day along with other meds.

    My feet do not feel as if I am wearing socks. Instead, my neuropathy makes me feel as if several of my toes are three times their size. The toes actually are normal size, but they feel weird and limit the feeling sensation in the front of my feet. It is a challenge, so I empathize with your issue, but I am thankful to still be standing. Good luck with getting answers from your doctor and congratulations on lowering your AIC.

Interesting ! I've taken his vitamins before but was not aware of the supplement you mentioned. I make a recipe of cinnamon walnuts so I eat cinnamon everyday. My fastings are usually below 100. I came off meds after a second knee replacement and when the doctor did not resume my meds I decided to make a big change in my diet which helped me lose weight so my A1C came down to 5.8. I will look into Andrew Lessman's supplements, thanks

I have been on Neurontin before I believe it was when I had Shingles last year. I just might mention that to my Doctor. thanks

Many of Andrew Lessman's capsules are made with gelatin.  This may or may not concern you....just stating a fact.   Years ago I called Lessman's office regarding this issue.  I was told that they had several calls and were considering an alternative.  The. couple of times I checked I didn't notice the formulas had changed.  So I stopped using his supplements years ago.

Just a FYI for those that are interested.  My husband does take a nongelatin capsule of ALA for neuropathy and he notices the difference if he does not take it.
