Diabetes medication question

I am pretty certain that my Dr. is going to want me to go on Diabetes medication. I have tried to avoid that as long as possible but my numbers remain in the low 200's. Most of the info I have read states alot of side effects. Also, it seems that most people I know that have gone on the meds some times are worse with the sugar going all over the place. Metforim seems to be a common med. given. Any suggestions/advice/experiece in this area will be most appreciated. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}
