momtodogs, we're thinking alike. I'm wanting to do a detox as well. I started last July, cutting out sugar, except in a protein shake, or diet green tea. I lost 20lbs, just eating right, drinking lots of water, and proteins. I had so much energy, I got up every single morning, and exercised for a hour. I was active throughout the day, I ate every 3 hours, and the weight just came off. I was in love with exercise, and loving the new me. Then around October of last year, I decided to do Halloween Treat bags for the kids. After I had given put the bags, there were bags left over, laying around the house. I begin tasting sweets again, and gained back 10 of the 20lbs I lost, I havnt gotten back on track since then. So I made it up in my mind, starting April 1st, I'm going back to what I know worked for me, and slack off sugar. Sugar ages you, slows down your metabolism, and you feel sluggish. I know, that any addiction can be broken If you can make it to that 21 day mark. (sugar is my weakness, I surprised my body haven't shut down. Since last year, I'm eating about 6 butterfingers a day, a box of oatmeal pies, 4 packs of Maple Nut Goodies. I've been doing this now, non-stop for 6 months) no more! I'm starting back to living like I want to live a long life. WE got this!!!!

Every morning I drink a tea made of hot water, fresh lemon juice, cayenne pepper and organic maple syrup. It's a great cleanse. When I really need to detox after the holidays or "bad eating", I make a pot of homemade vegetable soup. That will be my dinner for a few days. For lunch, I would have a salad or oatmeal. No sugar or carbs...

I too lost my way, I was hiking & active & 10 pounds thinner...

then my knee started hurting & had perimenopause issues...

then I over bought Halloween candy, then the holidays, then the winter from HELLo that won't end...just had another 8 inches of snow, ugh

I do like food, but not burning the calories like I was

I am only 5'1 & this extra weight shows on me

Me too, April 1st BACK ON TRACK

I want to look good in my clothes again & feel good about myself, back to exercise inside for awhile & healthier eating...I do not believe in excluding things you enjoy, just not as often & have to have some sort of exercise

P.S. I enjoyed your post, made me laugh, not at you, but I can SO relate, what didn't I eat, love those mini peanut butter snickers & butter fingers...oh & the apple blossoms you put in the oven & they taste like apple pie, with ice cream of course...chips & dip, I love salt more than sugar, that is just a sampling LOL

Prettyinpink37, your post made me laugh....not at you of course but it was just amusing. I love jelly beans, I buy one package a year...right now they are in the freezer so I can't get at them! I need to lose about 10 pounds and this winter has been so miserable that I all did was lay around, ugh....today was beautiful so I worked in the yard, it felt great to be outside!! The dog even got to go on a walk.

The nicer weather will be a great motivator for me, I try to take a 2 mile walk 4-5 times a week, so that should help me with the weight loss. From one of the other posts I read the recommended food choices, I am not so sure that I can do a 'detox'....I'd like to think I could but just not sure I could hold out that long....

AnnMarie-1...I want to know what those apple blossoms are that you put in the oven......

In all seriousness I do want to work on cutting sugar, so I will go to the grocery tomorrow and purchase some of the recommended items and work on drinking more water, I only drink about 1 glass a day.

momtodogs, we may need to lose weight but we still like our goodies (in moderation)

LOL

Life is too short to never enjoy Wink

Google Chudleigh's apple blossoms, will lead you to their webpage, facebook, etc

they have different kinds (I only tried caramel, didn't taste actual caramel, but was delish apple pie & awesome crust)

STOP THE PRESSES

I bought mine at Sam's Club, 12 in a pack, their Facebook says they have single servings at Walmart now

P.S. I just saw cherry blossoms at Sam's Club the other day, was good & didn't buy

AnnMarie-1, momtodogs...yes ladies, we will get back on track. Its all about moderation. Baby steps and we will get there. momtodogs, I went today and purchased some fruits and veggies. I bought a fitbit, will start using it first thing tomorrow morning. We need to encourage one another along the way!

Here is some of my motivations:

July 4-6.....me and a couple of cousins are going on a mini vacation in New Orleans

July 12....I'm the maid of honor in my cousins wedding

July 19.... Class Reunion (I want to look good)

Plus.....I have so many summer dresses I can't wait to get in to.

My goal is to lose 20lbs{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I'm determined to do it!!!!!!

'Detoxing' is not needed- as above poster said- the colon cleans itself.

Doing it to 'jump start' a 'diet' is silly. 'Diets' don't work. Stop eating sugar, drink a lot of water. eat healthy foods and WALK! It works!

PrettyinPink, you can do it!!!

You do have a lot coming up this summer, I can see your motivation

I just feel so much better about myself when I am smaller & others notice too

I am 125 (ish) lbs now & am shooting for 10 lb loss, hard for me to get lower than 115, I have tried before, but I would have to starve myself, so for now my goal is 10 lbs

I want it off my end of April if I can, end of May for sure

WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

Maybe tomorrow I will go down in the basement & get on the treadmill....I hate our basement but I will be brave LOL...we have had bats & mice in there! yuck!
