Re: Depression thread. Please! The person who posted last night to me

@butterfly123 I’m so sorry I didn’t see your response sooner! My old laptop is on its last legs, I can’t figure out how to use my new one and in the meantime I’ve been trying to read posts from my phone. And I’m seriously technologically stunted! So please accept my apologies because you always have such kind words for me and for others and reading your posts really adds to my day!
May I ask what your medical condition is? Sounds like it involves your kidneys.. 🙁 I have PCOS and if you haven’t heard of it, I can tell you, most everyone else hasn’t either. My doctors have no idea how to best treat me so I think the ‘less than 1% odds’ really was just a guess on the fertility specialist’s part. He was also pushing me to do IVF and that’s just a lot of money for a ‘maybe’ so I’m thinking he probably added that last tidbit to get me to make a decision. My husband is in the medical field, and he’s always reminding me- it’s called ‘practicing medicine’ because even the best doctors don’t always have the answer right away. And that’s true, I suppose. I work for a dentist and what we see is much more cut and dry. You either need this, or you don’t. Lol. A little bit of a difference. Still, trying to get answers or relief can be so frustrating!
How have you been? I’ve been thinking about you and your husband. I’m sure he’s feeling much better now! Or I hope so anyway!

@Nugbucker

My husband and I are doing well. When we were at Mayo Clinic, I was sitting in a waiting room with a pregnant woman who has PCOS. She was waiting for a scan and looked concerned. We talked for awhile and she mentioned that she is from Illinois and her doctor wanted her to have specific testing done. This was a few years ago and I pray all went well for her and her family. Her husband was upset that he couldn’t come into the female only area.

Retroperitoneal Fibrosis is one of my diagnosis’. We checked to see which doctors and medical facilities were conducting research studies. Only three in the entire world.

Tomorrow, I’m starting a basic essential oils online class. I will be the student not the teacher 😊

I searched the web and there is a site of doctors who specialize in PCOS. If you’re interested I will post the sight.

I wish to ask you a dental question please. Is there any product or dental procedure for receding gums due to prolonged prednisone use? I have a feeling the answer is no.

I hope you enjoy your new computer.

Keep believing in miracles, dear friend.

Hugs,

🦋

Re: Depression thread. Please! The person who posted last night to me

@butterfly123- Oh my, are you IN Minnesota??  I know you'd mentioned the Mayo.  I'm in the Twin Cities, so not at all far from Rochester.

I checked with my lead hygienist for recommendations for the gum recession.  If it's a sensitivity issue, we'd tell our patients to try Sensodyne toothpaste to help with that.  It wouldn't stop or reverse recession, though.  If you're interested in a more long term solution, we'd refer you to a periodontist.  They can do what's called tissue grafting and that will definitely help with any sensitivity.  It can be somewhat costly, though, but if you have insurance, a lot of times it's something that's covered at least somewhat.  If you are close to me, I'd happily recommend an office that's just down the street from mine. Another option is to go to a dental school.  One of my former owner doctors is at the U of M, continuing his education into periodontics.  A lot of dental 'students' are general dentists furthering their educations, actually.  It's a good option for folks without insurance or for anyone who wants to save a little money on dental procedures.

Still getting used to my new laptop... all my passwords were saved on my old computer so switching is a pain.  :/   LOL

@butterfly123, I read a little on Retroperitoneal Fibrosis- oh my gosh, that sounds terrible. It can be so frustrating too, to find there's seemingly not much help out there for it. Have you found any relief for this?  I know you mentioned an Essential Oils class... hopefully that helps some!  I've read that essential oils are good for so many different things... I have a diffuser in my house and I ususally have Eucalyptus going in the fall/winter.  You'll have to let me know what you thought of the class, if you got any good info!

Thank you for your positive thoughts for DH and I.

There are many kind and thoughtful posters here and I read  your kind response. Thank you.

I’m hoping the self shame and public shame and misunderstanding of this disease will continue to diminish. One person with courage who shares their journey often opens a door for another to share their’s, a family member’s or a friend’s.

When we come together to lift each other up we form a bond, as you wrote. Thank you 🌹

I cannot remember the title of a book I read twenty some years ago that resonated with me. When the time is right I will remember and pass the information along.

Do do you have weekends off to enjoy with your DH?

@butterfly123May your DH have a complete recovery!  Is this from the food poisioning?  I'm sorry I haven't really been caught up here sense the move.  I do enjoy writing more than the beautiful posts from your other thread.  May everyone who helps another be blessed.

What a lovely compliment, @Jackhound Mom!❤️    You touch my heart, genuinely.   I'm glad I could help.

You're right, @butterfly123 is a dear, sweet spirit.

I agree, we're in this together.   Truth is, we never know who is fighting some painful battles and I don't think it ever hurts us to treat others the way we would like our loved ones (or ourselves) to be treated.
