@Trinity11

You are so right, Trin.  I doubt there is anyone here who is not grappling with various issues, health or otherwise.  Yes, that's life.

When I look back over the years, I can now pinpoint exactly when life was easier and we were happier.  I am glad we had those times.

@LilacTree, that’s good news about your daughter winning the disability case.  What a long fight.

@tansy

Yes, when she got home she looked so drained that I thought she had lost.  I said "well?"  She then just said "I won."  She did not give me the details and I didn't ask.  She went right into her room and went to bed, obviously exhausted.

@LilacTree I am currently having a problem with spinal stenosis. I cannot stand for more than a few minutes without crippling pain. I think the statin I take may be contributing to it. The doctor claims I have to take the statin but quality of life is important. I hear you on the past. When my kids were growing up was the happiest time of my life..

Please forgive me for this, but statins are very dangerous meds.  I don't want to put my negative attitude on you, but perhaps you should not be taking them.  Please reconsider.  It won't hurt to try for a few months to see if your spinal problems improve.  Certainly get some (other) medical advice, although they all seem to walk the same path.

I can't stand for more than five minutes either, it's so frustrating.

@LilacTreeNot going to address your girls at all. I'm going to address your comment about the worry of infection. RA and autoimmune diseases are not a problem when having dental work done. Your DDS went to Medical School prior to going to Dental College. He knows what your health issues are and how to handle the situation IF you provide him with your current health records and medications. Don't worry about stuff your Dentist faces on a daily basis!

And please, don't use RA and autoimmune as an excuse. So many of us also have RA, autoimmune diseases and a host of other health issues. I've had it for 70 years. Yes, one of the health issues was diagnosed shortly after birth. Hasn't kept me from doing normal things throughout my life; nor will I wonder how much longer I'll live. Hope you live another 15-20 years and that new dental work serves you very well. It certainly will enhance your smile, enable you to eat well, keep your teeth from shifting, and a healthy mouth helps keep your entire body functioning property. Any medical professional has probably stressed the importance of oral hygiene throughout the years to you . . . there are so many good reasons other than clean, sparkly teeth!

The things you worry about seldom happen. Live your life with joy rather than angst and fear. Have a feast after the dental procedure!

@BirkiLady

It's more complicated than that . . . but I just want to comment on your post, which is right on.  Oddly, my PCP said the same thing to me about people living normal lives with RA.  May I ask what meds you are taking?

@LilacTree, it's standard after 2 heart attacks and diabetes to demand a patient take statins. The stats prove they lengthen life but at what cost? The cardiologist claims Repatha would be a good substitute at $1400.00 a month. My husband says we can afford it but I read it has some awful side effects too. I may just take my chances and go off the Lipitor. I miss going to the mall without needing to sit on a bench every few feet. We went on Monday and I sat in the food court unable to shop. My husband is doing all the food shopping too...he still works at 70 has a long commute and I feel like he has to do too much. He loves his job so I quit picking on him to retire..

@LilacTree  I was surprised about your comment re ra shortening ones life span. From the beginning of my ra diagnosis, my specialists always told me that with the proper medication regime, I should have a normal life span.

You know the meds thst I take, have made a huge difference in how I feel.

Happy to to hear that you will have the bridge finished.

@sydsgma1

I read it on one of the major medical sites, either Mayo Clinic or WebMD.  It's not something I worry about and perhaps the info needs to be updated.

If you take biologics I can see why the specialists told you that and it may very well be true for you, since you are doing so well.  I am happy for you too.

I do not advise going off the lipitor unless you discuss it with your doctor, If you are staying on it please start taking Co Q10 . The lipitor sucks all the co q 10 from your system . Our bodies make co q 10 but the older we get the less it makes and Lipitor just usurps the rest contributing to the imbalance of muscle producing energy. It can cause weakness and memory problems . If you do go off the lipitor please considertaking reservatrol and pumkin seed oil . Reservatrol will help keep your cholesterol low, And pumpkin seed oil will also help . Pumpkin seed oil helps lower inflammation in the body and lowers and equalizes blood sugar. Reservatrol helps regulate blood sugar aaalso . I have normal cholesterol . I do not take statins, I have a weight problem and my cholesterol is low . I also have an aarrythmia . I take pumkinseed oil and reservatrol everyday and have for years.I have R.A. ,and several auto immune diseases. I am in my late 60's. I also take coQ10
