Re: De Quervain's Tendinosis

I have this. Yes, it's very painful. My doctor told me I did not have to put up with this pain, and stated the surgery to correct it was out-patient and only required 3 stitches. As soon as my busy season is over, I plan to have it corrected. I have had it since February, and it is still very painful.

Re: De Quervain's Tendinosis

I just looked this up, @SeaMaiden , OUCH!!!  Are you left handed?  It says it comes on from repetitive movements.  Do you know why you have this?  I don't have anything to offer, but hope you can take care of this soon.  I know you the whole list of alternative anti inflammatories.

Feel better soon......

@SeaMaiden, I’m sorry you are going through this, and my wish is that you feel back to normal soon.  All my best.

@SeaMaiden

Me? As with all my other injuries, if I  know the source, along with what is the best treatment? From what I have read about this, my 1st choice would be the outpatient surgery. Once it's healed, and I know what caused it, I'll recover and move on.

If you are comfortable taking anti-inflammatory meds? I cannot because of my colon bleeds. Now this is just the way I proceed with all health or injury issues. You???

Yes, left wrist....I think it was from years of holding my iPad when laying down.....maybe if I stop  doing this action it will go away....if not, surgery for me.

 Thank you everyone🙂

Re: De Quervain's Tendinosis

15 or so years ago I was diagnosed with this.  Right wrist and very painful!  I saw a specialist who gave me two injections in the wrist and I have NEVER had any further problems!  Now, I will say the shots will nearly drop you to your knees, but they turned out to be well worth it for me.  Surgery was a possibility, but back then I think it was more difficult that what they are able to do now.

i did find that a flexible wrist brace gave me some relief.  Just that little bit of extra support helped.

Good luck!   I’m sure your doctor will find the best treatment for you!

I’m worried about wrist problems with my new, bigger iPad. My old one was a mini iPad. This one is a 10.5” IPad Pro and I have an Otter Defender case on it to protect it but it’s so much heavier. Sorry you are suffering. The splint might work.

I set my I pad on the table.

But I’ve had a similar problem walking dogs, I switch their leashes and it goes away.

Re: De Quervain's Tendinosis

I have it too- From a repetitive yoga routine. Needless to say, I had to stop. It’s been couple of months and I found some good PT/ OT exercises on the net that have helped.   But I went to yoga last night and it hurt a little today, again.

I understand tendons do heal very slowly, due to less blood flow , so it takes a long time.  I had a minor Achilles’ tendon sore spot (door hit me) that took  literally 1 year to feel better. But it did!  I used some massage techniques, that does help increase blood flow-
