One of the biggest problems with PFAS is that they are referred to as "forever chemicals" meaning they do not break down in the environment. They remain unchanged and continue to wreak havoc forever and since they do not breakdown into nontoxic compounds, which can be eliminated from biological processes, the forever chemicals display an accumulative affect in living organisms which can be passed along the food chain as they do the damages at ever increasing levels the farther up the chain it goes.
