Curious--why can't you wear makeup during surgery???

Hi. I'm having surgery and was told not to wear makeup, specifically eye makeup (it was in the list of instructions they give). I'm assuming it's because of vital signs--being able to "read" your face during surgery. But I was just curious as to why specifically not eye makeup. Smile
