I do have a question.  I went to my dentist today for impressions for a crown.  I waited until Jan so I could get the best insurance benefit.  I used up all the insurance from last year.

The cost: Anyone willing to share.  I was floored this time around.  I think it was       1,200 with insurance kicking in, my bill almost $500.  Does that sound right to you all.  I even bought more insurance to help me out... obviously not really.

I am wondering what price point you are paying or think you will end up paying.

Not if the price goes up when the patient has insurance

I am in Westchester County, NY.  Yesterday one of my crowns fell off so I spent time with my dentist today.  I would gladly trade bills with you.  I have dental insurance with $1500 annual amount.  With deductibles and amount allowed, I am paying $750 out of pocket.  I had x-rays, and impressions for a new crown.  There was no further decay and the old crown was temporarily re-cemented.

@bonnielu It depends on what type of plan you have, is it insurance or a discount plan, is it a network dentist or out of network dentist, deductibles or co-pays?

With our plan, if we use an out of network dentist, there is a deductible we have to meet and then they will only pay 80% of what they allow to a network dentist.

It all depends on your insurance as to how much you end up paying so its not exactly a fair comparison.

With my insurance paying part of the bill, I still have to pay approx. $1300 for the 2 crowns I will be getting this year. That's total for both, not a piece.

Thankfully I maxed out my FSA and that will cover it with no problems.
