Re: Covid for Christmas!

@Shelbelle I distinctly remember being told that if we get vaccinated it would stop the spread.  That was the point of the mandates and vaccine passports.

There are still videos up from Dec. 2021 telling us that the winter of 2022 was going to be a "winter of death" for the unvaccinated.  This was repeated by many at the top and the media.

When people first started to get Covid after being vaccinated we were told that they were unusual and "breakthrough" cases.....until they became more mainstream.

I have looked for studies showing the reduction of symptoms for the vaccinated and I have not found them.

Unfortunately, the Covid vaccine does not keep a person from getting it, and it never was presented that way.  If you contract Covid it keeps it from progressing into your lower respiratory system, which is when it can cause bigger problems.

It would be great if they came up with a one time vaccine that kept us from ever getting it again!  I don’t like getting shots or getting sick.  Who does?

The rates of injury to persons taking any of the covid vaccinations is 1 in 1.75 MILLION.

What are the odds that they are posting here?

@Lakelife62     i posted here about my husband and the damage to his heart from the second phizer shot

that of course is not an injury as it cannot heal or ever be repaired

count him as the 1 in 1.75 million you profess above

Why wouldn't you test for covid?? I certainly would and have done so.  Covid is a thing now---is the first thing I think about if I were sick.

Agree. I test right away if I have any symptoms. Thankfully, I still have not had the virus. My hubs either. We are up to date on all our immunizations.

The reason to test for Covid is so you don't walk around giving it to others. I'm shocked that even needs to be explained.

Do people with a common cold stay home and away from others, no.  Do people with the seasonal flu stay home and away from others, no.  They are out and about spreading their germs.  That list could go on and on.

Why would them staying home because they have Covid, a thing, now, be any different...

@taquito Actually it WAS presented that way....we were told if one took the vaccine according to those at the top & media it would stop the spread.  That was the point of the mandates and vax passports.  Remember those?

I am not allowed here to post who those people were or link any YouTube videos from 2021 which explicitly say that.

That's true.  Also people tend to be much sicker with the flu than with COVID.

Hubby got sick with Covid Christmas Eve day.
Thursday I came down with it.
We both have very different symptoms though.
He had fever, body aches and lethargy.
I have what feels like a bad head cold.
Thankfully we're both vaxxed or we'd be dealing with much worse illness.

@sharkb8 Hope you are both feeling better soon. The "good" news is that you were at home. My sister was also fortunate in that way because she took a 2 week trip to London but didn't get sick until the trip home. Also tested positive for Covid. Imagine flying to London and being sick upon arrival! Everyone in our family has also been vaxxed so it was like a very bad cold.  Still annoying, especially during a holiday!

Be very very cautious with Paxlovid, I have heard some people have gotten some pretty devastating side effercts, including early dementia.

I took Paxlovid the second time I had covid and it helped me tremendously. I had no side effects and my husband took it too.

I am so sorry @sharkb8 that covid struck your family this Christmas.  I do hope things are improving.  I have been very blessed so far in not getting covid.  I was on the late side of getting a vaccine and only did the two shots and have not done any updates or plan too.  Christmas 2025 will be here before you know it and it will be wonderful.

After reading all these posts about people getting Covid, it seems that either people who are sick are out and about infecting others, or they have Covid and feel fine but still out spreading it.

I don't get vaccines and haven't had a cold in over 20 years. I don't recall ever having the flu. Perhaps I've had Covid and was unaware having no symptoms.

For that reason, those who are compromised and at risk should assume that most they encounter are infected  and take precautions to protect themselves instead of depending on others to protect them.
