How else would an antiviral be prescribed unless there was a Covid test taken that showed a positive result.

No one should be shamed for taking a Covid test.

This reminds me of something...

Years ago, before the internet, my mother and her best friend splurged on a "medical encyclopedia".    They would sit together at the kitchen table and DIAGNOSE EACH OTHER.

Why wouldn't you test for covid?? I certainly would and have done so.  Covid is a thing now---is the first thing I think about if I were sick.

Agree. I test right away if I have any symptoms. Thankfully, I still have not had the virus. My hubs either. We are up to date on all our immunizations.

The reason to test for Covid is so you don't walk around giving it to others. I'm shocked that even needs to be explained.

I agree with @Lakelife62,

The reason to test is so that you don't spread covd to others especially those who are more vulnerable to it being serious.

Of course you don't want to give others a cold either, but covd is not something to brush off lightly for some with compromised immune systems, cancer, elderly, children copd, etc. etc.

@kaydee50.  You get tested so you'll know to isolate yourself and not expose anyone else.

we are 5 years out from Covid being as deadly as it was.  saying you test for covid so you don't spread it to vulnerable people........wouldn't you stay away from those same people if you were sick with anything?  i just don't get why some peole are still so afraid of it.  the only people i know that get sick all the time or have gotten covid more than once are the people who got the vax and boosters.  i couldn't/wouldn't live in fear of it for the rest of my life.

When you have a contagious disease, you take steps to avoid passing it to anyone. That doesn't mean you are afraid. It means you are responsible. Would you be ok if your restaurant cook came to work with tuberculosis? How about head lice? Would that be okay? Nothing to be afraid of.

@sharkb8 certainly not the gift you wanted for the holidays!  The same thing happened to my BF and I this summer.  I was really really really sick for well over a week, he basically had a few sniffles.........we both tested positive.

@Lakelife62 But aren't you going to act the same if you have a cold, flu or any other illness?

If I am sick I stay home & try not to infect others.

I don't have to do a test for these things, it's only common sense.

I get what you are saying but just stay away from others as much as possible & take care of yourself if you feel sick.

In a few days you will feel better!
