My husband and I both had covid around Thanksgiving. Our doctor has instructed us not to get the vaccine for 90 days. Hubby is eligible and cheduled for the first week in March but I don't fit in so I'll wait my turn.

So sorry for those of you who have experienced such a frightening illness. I have a couple of friends who also were terribly sick and in the hospital for over six weeks, then in assisted living for another couple of months before returning home to recovery. It's a dangerous disease and must be eliminated like Polio was; quickly and efficiently. 

I had my first vaccine on Thursday. The teams of RN's and Dr's were set up in a large Arena (used for huge concerts and sports events, etc.).

It was well organized and each step of the way, I was checked and re-checked about the safety of the vaccine with my life-long health condition and other autoimmune diseases. I did wait the 15 minutes to make sure there was not a reaction to the vaccine, since I am allergic to many medicines. Nothing happened as anticipated.   

To me, this was diligent process was overkill since my specialists and PCP had encouraged the vaccines. I wanted in and out! But after reading the hesitation of many on here, it's a good thing to provide all the information in written form as well as have educated, knowledgeable individuals checking people who haven't checked with their own physicians/specialists and pharmacists. I did all three and was encouraged by all my medical professionals and kept insisting I was "good to    go with the shot". Each individual passed me on to the next. Whew!)

Anyway, no side-effects what-so-ever.  I did the arm rotations which I always do with any shot in a muscle. I also used the stairs in the Arena (up and down three flights) rather than the elevator. Upon arriving home, I shoveled the back patio of snow, which the snow crews are not responsible for clearing.  (It was the first double-digit day and I wanted to get out and enjoy it! Plus, who uses their back patio in the winter? Just wanted to check  the north side of my house out after so much snow and the minus degree temps! LOL) Then, took my first walk around the neighborhood since the temps had plunged.  Two days later, I'm still feeling fine.

Hope everyone else has such a pleasant experience. I've heard dreadful stories from other states, but Nebraska is  organized, clean and caring with their patients. Stay well and remain healthy!

I am so impressed with all you did! My 85 year old sweetest friend lifts weights! and her arm wasn't sore.

But me?! I was the only one waiting in the chair for 15 minutes, moving my arm around and by that night it felt like someone socked me in the arm-permanently!

So I thought so much for "moving the arm around!"

So now I have a question which I did ask the nurse administering the shot-

I know that nurses used to tell us, rub your arm so the medicine gets rubbed in, not in one muscle spot. Why don't they say that now and say "move your arm around" which helped me like a hole in the head?

What do you think? Was that just years ago cause my nurse daughter doesn't remember saying that. Oiy!

Currently the CDC is saying if you have had COVID and were treated with monoclonal antibodies you should wait 90 days before having the vaccine.

Also, CDC saying the antibodies from having had COVID do not last very long, and a 2nd shot is needed.

@on the bay when we got our first Moderna vaccine we were told specifically NOT to rub our arm, but to move them.

You just do the best you can.  Remember in the beginning CDC told us it could not be transmitted from one person to another.  They said not to cut back on travel to and fro.  then they got mad because we did not cut back on travel.  Then we found it can be transmitted. Then they said not to wear face masks.  Then everybody was going to die if we did not wear face masks.  Now they are saying wear two face masks.  We were told we would be okay if we got the vaccine.  Now they are saying we still must wear face masks even though we have the vaccine.

YES, and also if you had Clovis illness, same 90 days.

UPDATE:  The news agencies are reporting that on the Sunday morning talk shows today 2/21/21 Dr. Fauci stated that the CDC is considering the studies that only one dose of the vaccine is needed for those who already had Covid.  So, continue to watch this topic if you had Covid.

For example, the NYP this morning reported:

Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday said officials are looking into the possibility of giving only one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to people who had already been infected with the virus.

The Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said data from administering a single shot to virus survivors is “really quite impressive.”

Yes,  I am aware that the CDC, made some un-sound comments during the first 10 months of the Pandemic.
