Easier to just take a test.  Just do it and put your mind at ease.

@CherryHugs Don't spend money on a test. Just stay home, if you can. Rest, hydrate & in a few days you will feel better.

No one wants a cold, flu or covid. So do whatever you would do to take care of yourself & not spread it to anyone.

If you know you have allergies, it's probably allergies.

If it's not allergies, you will be better soon.

She needs to test. Staying home and resting is fine for a cold. But if the OP has Covid, she needs to contact her doctor. There are medicines her doctor can prescribe to lessen the symptoms and severity of the virus. She may have health problems we don't know about. Your advice is way off.

Ridiculous.  If no other reason than that OP would most surely want to know definitively and either put her mind at ease or to take next steps which include oral antiviral meds which are recommended for seniors and others with specific health challenges.

I agree @Lakelife62 after being tested positive for the virus and dealing with the symptoms our primary doctor prescribed medication to take for (5) days for Covid.

And as a note, I have always and still mask up when I am out and about.

@CherryHugs   Go to a test center and get tested.  I don't trust the at home tests.  The one time I had Covid I was very tired and coughed.  A few weeks ago I thought I might have--was tired and achy--got tested and was negative.  The test didn't cost anything.

@chrystaltree

My doctor's office (last year) asked one question when I was ill and requesting an appointment.

"do I have a loss of taste or smell?"

As we know, the COVID virus is mutating and the poster who states she had horrible congestion ... this makes me wonder if newer strains of COVID now are causing this symptom to be exaggerated?

I did not have test kits at home then, but now I have several.

My sense of smell has not been good for a number of years so that question would not be relevant.

My test kits are from last spring... and iDK if they are valid for current strains?

My doctor's office last year (winter 22) had me drive up/park/the nurse came to me in the car and did the test.

Hope this helps.

Feel better ❤️‍🩹

You can receive four free Covid test kits by going to COVIDTests.gov or by calling 1-800-232-0233.  I received mine in a couple of days.  It's good to have these on hand.  I have not had Covid and just received another shot a few days ago.  I am vigilent and you should be too.  Test before leaving the house.

@jlkz Odd that headaches are not on the chart for allergies.  I get headaches due to the congestion caused by allergies all the time.

BTW, my only Covid symptoms was a headache that just wouldn't go away, some congestion, and loss of smell.

The biggest issue here, as others have mentioned, is that if you and your doctor agreed that antiviral meds (Paxlovid) would be appropriate treatment given your age, health, etc. then testing needs to be done asap. Those drugs need to be started within five days of onset of Covid symptoms.

I started having a ticklish/sore throat during the evening and knew something was up. During the night I had chills and some fever with worsening congestion and then cough. But symptoms over the next two weeks continued to morph and change with extreme cough and FATIGUE being the major ones. I could not talk or eat without coughing! My ears clogged up, I had maybe a slight change in taste, and oddly enough even had changes in my vision.

@LTT1 some of the Covid variants do not include the loss of smell, so that is no longer a true indicator.  If you have the loss of smell, then that's a better indicator, but if you don't, that doesn't clear you.
