I have COPD and use an inhaler once daily. I 'm on Medicare. I just put in an order for my 3 month supply of my inhaler and the cost has gone up to $533.00. I know others pay more than that for some very needed drugs. I don't understand why if you get get generic viagra, they can't come up with less costly alternatives for life sustaining drugs. I'm just venting, but it annoys me to no end.

I hear you.

this is my 2nd year on Medicare.  For the 2nd year, I changed my drug plan because my plan the first year didn't pay much.

My new plan has a much cheaper premium, but a $480 deductible.  They get you either way.

Last week, I got a 30 day supply of the blood thinner I take, Xarelto.  It was $521.  Going through Good RX was like $3 cheaper, but the smarter choice was to run it through insurance and take care of my deductible in one fell swoop.

$521 out of pocket for a 30 day supply.  I'll be interested to see what it will cost next month, now that my deductible is paid. It will still be hundreds of dollars out of pocket I am sure.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Have you used GoodRX? I'm on Medicare and It took my inhaler from $233.00 per month down to $82 per month.  Check it out and see if it'll help you.

Disgraceful. I can buy SYNTHETIC thyroid replacement at about ONE DOLLAR A MONTH, but the SPECIFIC NATURAL replacement I feel BEST taking costs $40 a month instead.

Those of us who need to use specific meds to live our best lives SURE ARE PAYING FOR A LOT OF ELEGANCE IN THE LIVES OF THOSE IN THE UPPER ECHELONS OF BIG PHARMA.

You may want to check with the drug manufacturer directly.  Many have programs based on income.  My mom has COPD and was prescribed Symbicort, it was very expensive.  The company had a program and she gets it for free.  Has made a world of difference.

@violann, Having thyroid removed because of thyroid cancer I can only take Synthroid. Dr. will not allow generic. 30 tablets cost  $45.00. Asked cost of generic for same number of pills $11.00.

@CalminHeart , I use my plans preferred pharmacy which is a mail order plan. A couple months ago, I tried the GoodRx while getting just a one month supply of a new med I was supposed to take and wanting to try before getting 3 months supply from mail order  and it was more expensive then the pharmacy I was getting that one month supply from and more than my mail order.

I am trying to figure out the cost of my prescriptions too.

My drugs were Tier 1 and cost nothing for years. Now some drugs are no longer Tier 1. And many of my drugs now cost $+.

I don't get it. How did a drug magically change from Tier 1? I have been taking the same drugs for years and now all the sudden they just change the Tier so they can charge me alot more?

My husband had 2 heart attacks, so he takes quite a few medications. He is spending hours researching what drug store has the best price. For one drug he used to pay $30 at Walmart Pharmacy and suddenly CVS cost $120 for the drug. It is crazy how the prices have jumped. He was told by his insurance agent to change to CVS, he would save money?!?!?

I get my breathing medicine from MediSave. It's Canadian. Go to this website and look for any medication you use. You need a perscription from your Dr. Send the script in to this place or call and talk to them. I send a check because I don't have a Visa card or Master card, They are wonderful to deal with.It takes a while if you don't have a card. I got 6 nebulizers for $233.98 Plus $14.00 for S/H. with 3 refills. My script called for 3 but I ask for 6, she said ok. There is a group of meds you can buy  for everything. I tell this to everybody, so check it out. You will also notice on the lable., it's the same company sold in USA. I've been doing this for years.
