From a pain management clinic - doctors and/or physicians assistants who are trained and qualified to (by doctors) administer these injections.  In- Office works for me. I've been getting them for years for Back & Neck injuries.  I like to use someone who can adjust down the level of steroids/cortisone to reduce the side effects.

I've had this shot done by both my PCP and a specialist (shoulder).

i get cortisone injections in my right knee.  I have osteoarthritis.   My PCP gave me the injections two or three times.  We'd agreed on every three months but then it became difficult to get the appointment with her.  Hubby is an RN and he told me to just go through orthopedics.  When I called Ortho for an appointment because I was in pain, I had not had an injection in six months, I got an appointment for the next week.  They did an x-ray and a nurse practitioner gave me the injection.  I get my injection every four months now.

Injections from either the orthopedist or the Physical Medicine specialist.
