@DianeJ2  I've also had two surgeries for Endometrosis, but never a

hysterectomy. At the time, I was 50 and 51. The second surgery put a sudden stop to my periods! For 20 years I thought everything was a "done deal" . . . then the minimal spotting. Scared the daylights out of me! Smiley Frustrated

ETA: On hindsight, I probably had the fibroids at the time of the Endometrosis surgeries. Life was very, very busy and I wasn't too concerned once assured it wasn't cancer. Just wanted it taken care of quickly so life could go on!

@BirkiLady Wow that sudden spotting would've sent me into a panic! Glad all was ok! I love that your doctor is so caring, that's hugely comforting.   I went through menopause 2 years ago and on month 13, had some spotting. Can't imagine after 20 years how you felt. Women definately have amazing strength.

You are inspiring me not to be such a chicken and not put off things with with your ETA 😊

@DianeJ2   We definately are the stronger sex in most ways. (Although I didn't realize it in my youth.)

I've really learned how strong females are now that myself and many of my friends are widowed and/or divorced. We ROCK living alone and maintaining our own homes, kids, former jobs/careers and lives!

Doubt even my dear husband could have accomplished it on his own had I passed away first. Pretty sure he would have moved into a condo or an apartment. What a boring type of existance for a healthy person! But you seldom see a man live in his own home alone and love it. Smiley Happy  Today's men seem much better at raising their children, if necessary. I do think my son would be able to handle being a single-parent, if absolutely necessary. Although loosing his wife would devestate him. (Hope he learned how to handle such a thing from watching me.)

Re: Collagen supplements and fibroids

Thank you for sharing this info. Two of my daughters take collagen supplements and they have both been longtime sufferers of fibroids.

I am assuming women take it for skin health,  what should one look for in these supplements?

@goldensrbest

I have purchased the Lindberg (from PipingRock) and also the Trunature (from Amazon). It just depends on which one goes on sale.

Re: Collagen supplements and fibroids

When I found out I had fibroids, I went on an online research binge of trying to find out as much as about them as I could. I repeatedly found entries saying that higher collagen production in the body can cause/grow them. That's why African-American women have them more commonly, they have more collagen in their body. If you do a google search for "collagen supplements fibroids", I'm sure you can find some information. I have a note in with my GYNO asking her about it and also have a follow-up consultation with Dr. Barbara Taylor (Menopause Taylor on Youtube). I have that in my notes to discuss with her, as well.
