Re: Collagen Powder Supplement

I have been using Vital Proteins Collagen powder for about a year and a half. It is bovine collagen.  I buy it at Costco which has the best price per ounce. If you are vegan, you can get the same company's vegan version, on Amazon. I want to believe that it is helping my joints, hair, nails and skin. I say I want to believe because I have been reading that when the collagen, taken orally, hits the stomach, the stomach acid basically removes most of the benefits.  I quess you could say that about any supplement we take. However, apparently, when the powder is mixed with the water, to drink it, it is more quickly absorbed so less is lost.  Who knows.....I will keep taking it!

Re: Collagen Powder Supplement

I've been taking marine collagen for about a year, maybe longer, and I am still not convinced that it's making any visible difference in my skin. The only thing that I can tell that it is doing, sort of, is the faster rate at which my hair and nails are growing....and I'm not thrilled about that.

Thanks for the tip about buying the Vital Proteins at Costco.  I don't have a membership as there aren't any warehouses close to me but even with the 5% surcharge, it's cheaper than what I've been able to find it for.

Re: Collagen Powder Supplement

I tried the NeoCell powder form. I just could not deal with the smell & taste. Most people say it does not smell or taste but I'm here to tell you it does. I had to plug my nose to try & down it. It made me gag & sometimes it came back up. I also took it with Vit C or a little oj & I think MSM not sure for better absorption.

Eventually I gave it up & took the pills which I also stopped taking.

Andrew Lessman's are part of the Feb Monthly Specials if you want to check out his. Someone posted right now is his best price it has been.

Andrew Lessman's Marine Collagen - no additives, it's very pure stuff, and it works wonders on my skin, (not just my facial skin) it's pricey BUT WORTH EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY PENNY.

I buy nothing BUT his product line as all other lines are loaded with fillers and lies.

Re: Collagen Powder Supplement

I guess I need to research this, how do you decide if the bovine or marine is better? I agree with Shelbelle that if Lessman's is made from tilapia, I would not want it either. I don't have a membership at Costco, I suppose a vitamin store would have better quality that a grocery store.

@Sooner

Good question my friend!

All of his products are made in the USA, however, I'm not sure he has the tilapia sourced from the USA.   Makes me think, now that you mention it....hmmm.

I've ordered direct many times 800 808 7311; the CS is excellent and perhaps they can answer where the scales are sourced.

[ Edited ]

Lessman primary ingredient is tilapia, that is a farm raised fish,  that says it all, I dont care where it is sourced, it is not a product  that I would consider healthy to consume. Shame on him, he certainly knows better. His products are a lot of hype, and not always as they appear.

I believe you can order from the Costco website for a non-member 5% upcharge, which is still a very good value.
