My older sister (12 years older, 72) is in the process of the testing for a cochlear implant. Does anyone have one or know someone who does? Would be interested in hearing some personal experience to supplement what I have read on the web. The doctor who will implant it is very gung ho and thinks it will help her greatly. Also, I will need to figure out how to be able to talk to her as after the implant she will be totally deaf for 2 to 6 weeks. I can give her an old cell phone and I have an iPhone. Trying to figure out how to text her, but let her speak to me. Trying to teach her how to text will be next to impossible as she is not at all tech savvy and it is difficult to explain to her as she can barely hear. I was thinking perhaps I could text her on the old cell phone and then she could simultaneously hold the regular land line to speak back to me. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate hearing them. TIA
