I just this week turned 67 and thankfully never been bothered with floaters. But, yesterday enjoying the Southern Women's Show---all of a sudden I noticed I had an eye issue. Of course I googled---and seems to be a floater they call cobweb. The sites differ somewhat---some say go to dr. right away---some say it will go away in a week to 6 months. Since it is the weekend---and all opthamologist are closed----and hate to go to ER if it is nothing---I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this type?? It is very annoying when really looking at something up close ---reading etc., but just going about my day---not so bad. I would welcome any input please! Thank you.

@pietookMy floaters come and go rather than staying. Why are you sure your web is a floater? -If you're not sure, read about detached retina please. That would be serious and the faster you have an answer, the better your outcome as I understand it.
Sorry I don't know any more to help you.

I am almost your age....have had floaters for a while...but your issue sounds like you may have a cataract...I have one that is slow-growing and it is starting to make me aware it is there...looks like cobwebs over my left eye. Best thing is just to see your eye dr and have it checked out.

What sort of symptoms do you have?
A few years ago I had sudden flashing in my left eye...just as a blizzard was upon us on a Friday night! It was next to impossible for me to get out & drive an hour into the city to see a top specialist. I was so afraid that it was a detached retina but it turned out to be vitreous fluid detaching which also created floaters that I didn't have before.
Do you have a lot of floaters suddenly? Can you give your eye doctor a call and see if you can speak with him? He can ask you the right questions and make suggestions for you.

I don't know for sure cobweb floater is what I have! I was just being my own doctor thru WedMD and different sites online! If it were not the weekend---I would definitely try to get into my eye dr. My sister said she had one like I am explaining and her dr. said it wasn't to worry about---and it did go away---said gravity pulls it down so it disappears! Thank you for all your input! Much appreciated! I will google retina issues! I have not been diagnosed with cataracts and regularly to doctors! But, it could be?????

It's probably a Vitrious Detachment...almost 85% of Seniors get it. (Google it to read all about it)
Please go to a Rentinal Opthomologist ASAP as you are at higher risk for Rental Detachment within the first 90 days of the Vitrious Detachment...also you are also at risk for this to happening in your other eye as well.
I had Vitrious Detatchment in my left eye, followed by my right within 6 months.
It's NOT dangerous, but only a Retinal Opthomologist can determine this & can also check you for Macular Degeration, cataracts etc.
Good-Luck & please let us know the outcome! Hope that helps!![]()

I've had floaters off and on for years. They come - they go. December seeing fuzzy on computer - went to doc thought perhaps cataract implant had shifted. Doc said 'no' - both lenses look excellent. She said I have..........dry eye....and suggested I use SYSTANE drops when needed. (no prescription - over the counter)
Had been using another eye drop brand just to refresh - she said no don't use that one - some chemical in it not helping dry eye condition.

@pietook I do not offer advice on this board ...but my sil is an ophthalmologist and after asking him what that could mean..he said to get into an opthamologist ASAP...it could be a potential detached retina. Please do this. And he said put nothing in your eye re drops etc.
good luck.

Do you know if an ER dr. could detect detached retina? Since it is the weekend ----ER would be my only choice. Would hate to go and they just tell me to contact my eye dr. on Mon.! Again, Thank you !!
