What does one take this supplement for and if you do does it work for you?

You do not know if it works unless you have bloodwork done.

It is supposed to help with heart health and with headaches and blood pressure. It gets depleted when on statins.

There are other benefits to it but you might need to speak to your doctor.

@bargainsgirl No. I only take what my *doctor* advises and he hasn't been wrong yet.

@bargainsgirl   I began taking it several years ago as an antioxidant but have since learned the other great support it provides especially as I'm aging. My doctor originally recommended this supplement and we always discuss it during annual well checks which you should do. There is a lot of info easily found on line.

I've been taking statins for years, not taking CoQ10 and my bloodwook is perfect! Follow the advice of your doctor NOT what you hear on the internet. Woman Frustrated

I take the lowest dose statin possible.  When I started it, I asked my doctor if I should take CoQ10, and he said I could wait to see if I had issues with the statin and my muscles or be proactive and take it anyway--that it has benefits.  So I decided to go ahead and take it but at a low dose--100mg.

If you are over 50 then the type to take is ubiquinol which is the kind older people can use. Regular CoQ10 isn't broken down in older individuals b/c of the lack of a particular enzyme needed to make the CoQ10 bioavailable in older people.

Ubiquinol is the bioavailable (reduced) form of CoQ10. There are no accurate blood tests to measure these if taken.

What are the bloods tests? There are none.

Blood tests will not confirm any benefit from taking CoQ10.

Any 'benefit' from taking the antioxidant is based on speculation and not on actual tests.
