Recently when I had my ear issues it was suggested I continue taking the Claritin on a regular basis. I noticed that the generic version is much cheaper, and I was tempted, but passed . Have any of you tried the generic, and noticed a difference ? TIA.

I have used the generic form and I think it works just as well for me as the name brand.

I only buy the generic form of Claritin for myself, and what the VA supplies to my husband is also generic.

I tried Claritin  for about 6 weeks recently and it did nothing for me.  I went back to Zyrtec.

@QVCkitty1, I have used the generic. Save yourself some money. There’s no difference.

Claritin has never worked for me, but I take the SUPER generic (Good Sense) version of Zyrtec. A bottle of 365 costs me under $15 on Amazon Subscribe and Save. A bottle of 70 from the Walgreens' store brand costs me $27 and a bottle of 70 actual Zyrtec costs me $40 at Walgreens.

Over the last 18 years, I've used prescription Zyrtec, store-brand Zyrtec, and Good Sense Zyrtec and have noticed no difference in any of them.

Just wanted to chime in... I've used Allerclear from Costco for several years now.  This is their version of Claritin.  Costs about $11 or $12 for something like 300 tablets, if I'm not mistaken, and it works really well for me.  No different than Claritin at all, other than it's much more cost effective.  Costco also has their own version of Allegra and Zyrtec too, I think.  If you have a membership, I recommend trying it.

I actually realized the other day that I'd forgotten to add the Allerclear to my pill box for a few days and boy could I feel a difference.  So that tells me it really does work well.

Hope that helps you out!
