When we leave our safety up to other countries we place ourselves at great risk. What would happen if war were to break out between us and the only country making our antibiotics? This is a national security issue that needs to be immediately addressed.

We have bigger national security issues that antibiotics. I don't think that even cracks the top 10.

Crystaltree, respectfully, I think you are wrong about this. Antibiotics save millions of lives each year. The estimation for just penicillin is 200 million lives. Other antibiotics have also saved millions of lives. As for all pharmaceuticals, the amount of lives saved is in the
billions. What there’s an epidemic of a fatal disease and we are at war with the only country making a particular vaccine or antibiotic? How many of us could die?

Remember years ago - all the dogs dying from eating dogfood made in China. Remember years ago how many people got sick and died from the wallboard installed in their new homes? Never buy toothpaste made in China. Their standards are very low!!!!

It's very worrisome but there isn't a darn thing we can do about it if we must take prescription medication. You can make yourself ill worrying about this sort of thing. Heaven knows, you've given us more than enough to worry about @Mindy D .

Agreed! China is pouring huge amounts of fentanyl over the border to disabilize the country.
China and India make 80% of our pharmaceuticals! Very little FDA oversight.

I think it's a top security issue and most of all a national disgrace! I can't believe we let this happen.

The thought of things changing for the better unfortunately is somwhat laughable. QC for anything is non existent in China...home goods and clothes come to mind 1st...and that just scratches the surface.

We, as a country, and our government, need to fork over as much money as it takes to get these medicines made over here. This is a huge risk for all of us and in this case, it is a matter of money. If we can spend money for military defense we can spend money for defense of our lives.

THIS IS AN ISSUE SOLVEABLE WITH CASH. It’s as important as keeping our military strong.
