My thought is that once you have someone mess with your eyes, you are always left with a problem. Your eyes are not the same. They also said that I have cataracts and the beginning of
Macular Degeneration. Fun!
Wow! I'm so sorry to hear this, @Enufstuff .I've had LOTS of surgeries. These two were supposed to be SO easy. Well, I'll soon be the judge of that. It makes me very uneasy that this problem could last a while. ![]()

The only "messing with my eyes" I had done over the years was going from no glasses/to distance glasses/to bifocals/to trifocals. Then came the cataract surgeries on both eyes.
Left has a Multi-focal iol and the right has a Mono-focal iol. That was in 2008. So in my case, and many friends that I know! Your thoughts about problems "once you have someone mess with your eyes" theory! Sure didn't pass the test in our cases.
Just wondering! If you follow your theory I assume you will bypass cataract surgery, and whatever might help with the more serious Macular Degeneration.

@m0rgan , I would not "worry" about it yet. I could never wear contact lens b/c of discomfort.
About ten years ago, I had cataract surgery with multi focal lens. I was so happy to be alive at a time to have such success. It was 100% successful, and I passed the DMV eye test minus glasses.
About a week or so, my right eye became uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. Every time I blinked it was like when I tried to wear contacts.
I went back to the doctor and he said it was dry eye and recommended and would go away. He recommended over the counter Systane. That helped with the dryness immediately. Pretty soon, I used the Systane less and less. Now, I never have dryness EXCEPT with spring and change of seasons. I then use the Systane a couple of days it's gone.
Use something good for the dryness, and I hope it goes away.
I hope yours is not a long time thing, so you can enjoy the improvements.

I told you I'd let you know what eye surgeon told my spouse today about the "dirt" feeling in his eye.
He stated absolutely normal will probably have the sensation of dry eye for a couple of months. Suggested any type of lubricating eye drops (Systane) and my spouse uses oxygen 24/7 so this can also cause dry eye syndrome.
Hope this helps and you are feeling better.

@homedecor1 THANK YOU! I guess I can tolerate this for a couple of months. I just HOPE that's all it will be. Years ago, I tried contact lenses (first the hard ones and several years later the soft ones). I just couldn't wear them. Well, my eyes feel like I have contact lenses in them and I'm DYING to take them out! Very frustrating.
Thanks, again, for the info. ![]()

@febe1 Thank you. Yes, I'm using Systane also. It sounds encouraging that your discomfort didn't last too long.

I would contact eye doctor if this persists. JMO as everyone is different and certainly wouldn't want infection going on or something else.

Just had mine done end of Nov/Dec too. My cataract grew quickly over 6 months and I couldn't see with my progressive glasses anymore so I knew something was off.
I didn't like the surgery, especially taping my head still to the table but was assured this was a procedure done to thousands every week.
I am now 6 weeks on and have had terrible stinging pain in both eyes (like peeling a strong onion pain). I went back this week and was given more steroids and I am now trying Refresh Mega 3. This combination, together with over the counter painkillers seems to be helping a lot. I was using Systane Ultra for years and figured my eyes might have been too use to it. I have dry eyes and high pressures.
The good side is I can read boxes, watch tv, etc without glasses but I still have a slight blur and sensitivity to light. My doctor assures me this will take time but will all be good. Guess we have to be patient. Good luck and thank you for sharing.

@Flopsy LOL Yes, taping my head to the table sure was a shock. But I understood why. It sounds like you've had a very rough time post surgery. I'm so sorry. I sure hope your doctor is right re "will all be good." I'm wondering how long it's going to take. I wasn't expecting this!

I'm keeping positive cos it's done now. I just find because my eyes are sore I feel so tired. I do love not having to wear glasses though, hope that continues. Definitely noticed my eyes are better with the steroids and I keep reminding myself lots of people are suffering much worse than me. I've got a good husband who is saying the right things and doing the driving. It sucks getting older lol.
