Has anyone used an eye shield to sleep that doesn't require tape?

Would a regular sleep mask do the trick?

I had two cataract surgeries last year and needing an eye shield never came up in converation.

If you sleep in the dark, why would you need a shield?

I think it is to prevent anything, including your hands, from making contact with the eye area while one is asleep.

I believe to prevent damaging your eye, rubbing it,  bedding against it.

@Tinkrbl44 Did you have to put drops in your eys several times a day?

I don't see how a shield would fit over the eye area without taping?? The rigid shield is to protect the eye that was just surgically adjusted from things that could hit it or you putting pressure on the eye.  I carefully removed the shield with the tape intact and didn't have to re-tape it.  @occasionalrain What are your concerns about using tape?  And no, I would not use a sleep mask without the doc approving.

I had to put drops in the eye several times a day.  My doc gave me a chart with a grid so you can check off each type of drop each time since they were on different schedules.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

Yes, three different eye drops, alternating, for the first week.

@Jk9

I have sensitive skin and the tape leaves a red mark like a brush burn that remains. This after only two times.

You could try an eye patch like kids use for dressing up like a pirate. They have elastic.

It sounds like you are allergic to ADHESIVE.    (So am I.)     You can get "paper tape" at any drugstore.    It is hypo-allergenic.    HONEST....It doesn't take your skin with it when you peel it off!      di
