Hi Cat..wanted to update you on my doctor visit!! My bp was114/76, my A1C was 5.5!!

My weight is 112, good for my small frame. I saw a new doctor that I loved! She said she is very pleased! I am eating 6 carbs for breakfast, no more then 12 carbs for lunch and dinner~ Thats basically the way I have been eating for quite a while. I have read Dr. Bernsteins food lists, very easy to remember.I want to look as good as he does, at 69, lol! He has saved many lives and limbs! So glad you reminded me about him!!! I have labs drawn tomorrow and will check my liver and kidneys. I met a man in the waiting room that almost died when his kidneys quit functioning. He looked good and he credits his good care..(I will always take care of my health..this diabetic diet saved my life and its a healthy diet). He basically eats the same way. The doctor told him he must eat whole foods and cook them, no more processed foods! Salt isn't good for the kidneys, so I need to cut back on that. My doctor suggested a B complex and 2000IU D3 for neuropathy~ I am a happy camper! Had to share with you! You are an inspiration to me, along with others on here with diabetes!

Emmiesmom, that is great news. Congratulations! I have read half of Dr. Bernsteins book. Have begun to cut back on carbs slowly. Other things going on in my life that I am taking it slow. You and Iam4truth have been very helpful. Thank you so much. My rollercoaster life hopefully will level out soon and can take advantage of completely controlled bs.

nagrom, Isn't Dr.Bernstein great? He has totally turned my health around. I feel so much better without grains etc. I am so glad that I've been helpful, that was my intent. Cat has really helped me too, she is so knowledgeable, serenity and Iam..too. I don't want to leave anyone out... they have all helped me more than any of the doctors I've seen previously. I really like my new doctor~ Its been a good day~Smile

Emmiesmom...... YOUR A1C was 5.5!!!! Shout it from the rooftops because that is absolutely fantastic. I know how hard you have been working at it and I couldn't be more happy for you!!!

I know you were worried about your morning blood glucose but I think it all evened out. I also have some morning highs in the 140 range but my A1C is usually under 6, so my endo told me not to worry about it.

I also agree about Dr. Bernstein's approach. I think he has saved many a diabetic from an early death. I love the fact that he speaks our language because he deals with this disease in his own life every day 24/7.

Once again, I am so very happy for you!!!{#emotions_dlg.wub}

Serenity, I look at you as a role model, several others too. I will keep my numbers low, the doctor agrees that this should help my neuropathy heal. My dad had neuropathy in his neck. When he quit drinking alcohol, it went away. I remember that and it gives me hope. Thank you for being excited for me..I was really anxious about my test, my bp too..it was all good! Sending love and hugs to you!!!{#emotions_dlg.wub}
