Where is the proof of what she was accused of doing? What if she had denied it? I'm wondering if someone could falsely accuse someone of this and get away with it?

Also, how did they find her?? Did the person that complained use her license plate?? Kinda scary if someone nasty just wants to cause problems!

Yes the person who reported gave the number of her license plate.

I'd be curious who "somebody" was ... like, a school bus driver or something?

Also, the OP didn't say which department the police officer was from; since he mentioned the District Attorney, he was probably from the Sheriff's department and not the Highway Patrol.

Nice to know they follow up on complaints.

All of the police cars here in NW Ohio have an 800 number on their bumpers for you to call if you see anyone driving badly.

We just had a 90 car pileup on the turnpike (I-80) which is being blamed on speeding semi trucks. (and terrible weather!) 3 people died, many were injured. They are looking for help to find a certain truck.

ITA. I've never heard of that either. Sounds very suspicious to me. You can accuse anyone of anything, it's their word against yours, unless they video taped it.

Sounds suspicious to me as well, and if I was your friend I would have made sure to get that officer's name, badge number and the number on his police cruiser. In fact, I think I would have asked him to wait while I called the police station to inquire about the situation. I'd be willing to be that this officer was a friend to someone who got ticked off at your friend. I would not have admitted to anything.

The problem with them is, when they mess up and crash it's the innocent person that dies, not the idiot that caused it to happen. Too bad he didn't give your friend a ticket. I can bet since she got away with that she won't change her driving habits one bit. I just hope she doesn't live in my state.

I agree!

As a teenager, I was struck crossing the street in a crosswalk by a careless driver. My injuries were not substantial, but could have been, as I went flying. In my adult life I have been hit while driving by 4 drunk drivers and had to have cervical surgery. I lost a first cousin to a drunk driver. (I know - your friend wasn't drunk - just driving like one.)

Believe me - I have zero tolerance for people like your friend and wish the police officer had thrown the book at her!!! Maybe the D.A. will!

Remember, no one is anonymous in a car, that is WHY they have license plates- in order to identify the vehicle and its owner...

I would certainly report someone if they did something crazy or aggressive tome on the road- After all, why does a peace officer have to witness it? I am a person just as they are and am able to determine when someone acts recklessly...

Yes, the police arrest and cite people, write reports, gather evidence, but the district attorney has the discretion to decide whether to prosecute. BTW one very rainy night I was In stop and go traffic and I saw the car in front of me "tap" the car in front of her. I decided to go around that lane of traffic. At the time I drove a 1976 bright yellow v8 Mustang. Later, I got a call from the Highway Patrol, very sweetly asking if I had been in an accident. Evidently someone thought I had been, I know I hadn't, and invited him to come look at my car. I was so shocked...anyway, He believed me and it stopped there. Shame on your friend if she is driving recklessly.

But people can lie for many different reasons.

Unless there's a video, who know's which one is being honest?

Why does it have to be witnessed? How about because if you are the only witness, it is a he said/she said situation. What you consider dangerous and/or aggressive may not my true legal definition be such. Sometimes the person who thinks they are being the safest driver on the road and complaining bitterly about all the other crazy people is really the problem and cause all the other drivers to react to them!
