They can.
They can also discuss the nutritional properties, or lack of, in processed oils (or anything else).

I don't disagree with that but everything seems to devolve into who's right and who's smarter than who.
Some of us like salad dressing once in a while. Some of us will only eat veggies with salad dressing attached.
I know someone who's sister is in a nursing home. She was complaining her sister was eating too much salt. Holy cow, she's never leaving the nursing home. Let her enjoy her meal!
Some of us just really want to enjoy a meal on occasion. I'm willing to lose years off my life to enjoy mac and cheese with bacon once in a while! So worth it!

The salad dressing you are eating is pure sugar and is a one way trip to diabetic ketoacidosis for myself. I would love to eat it but never could. I would rather eat a salad dressing of a tsp of olive oil and some vinegar than a sugared up processed dressing any day of the week.
That's why nutrition is all in the eye of the beholder and no one size fits all dietary measures works for everyone.

O.K., you can do what you like.
And we can continue to discuss what is healthy and what isn't (isnt this the "Wellness" board?)
I enjoy my meals. I don't know anyone who eats things they hate. Certainly not on a regular basis. And I eat salad dressing. It just usually contains no oil (once in awhile it will if I'm eating out - I don't worry about the occasional thing I don't eat on a daily basis).
I am not in a nursing home living for whatever sugar, fat or salt laden thing makes my day worth living. Who knows, someday I might be, but for now I just concentrate on living my best life each day, and part of that is putting good fuel into my body so that I continue to do the things I love to do.
I don't really live to eat, I eat to live. But I enjoy the food I do eat. It's just maybe not someone else's idea of enjoyable. I can't help that. But I can express my opinion (based on lots of reading) on what is healthy for my body and what isn't.
Again, this board is supposed to be about Wellness. It's not the Recipe or Tasty Food board.

I know what's in it. I am not concerned about the sugar content, I don't eat a lot of it.
You can eat your processed oil if you like. I prefer to avoid it for the reasons that have been stated, but if you don't care or don't believe it, well, that's your choice.
And I can differ with you on what I think is healthy.

@QueenDanceALot Yes, triglycerides are important to me when it comes to health so I avoid refined sugar proven to raise them. Eating processed sugar and cultured dextrose with the same sugar content as Twizzlers? I will take the olive oil any day. Hands down.

My blood work is great. I take no medications. I look at my diet as a whole, not by a tablespoon or 2 of dressing I have a few times a week.
I don't really care what you eat. I am happy to leave that decision up to you.
But I will continue to say what I believe to be healthy and what isn't on a "Wellness" board.
Just as you do.
You can insult me (and others who follow a WFPB diet) all you like (with your snarks about "internet gurus" . Doesn't change a thing.

I will continue to speak out about Internet gurus who use paid shills to line their pockets with $$. Doctors who promote unhealthy "cures" for diseases that there are no cures. To me that is an insult to anyone's intelligence and practicing medicine without a license.

Referring back to the original post @SeaMaiden posted
making the connection of Alzheimer’s and canola oil,
I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about my PB friend, Karla.
She was well over 300lb when she was diagnosed w/ T2 diabetes.
Lost 100lb on low carb, but still on medication.
Once her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s,
that’s when she began a PB diet with no salt/oil/sugar/additives.
220lb later...and 10 yrs after her diabetes diagnoses,
she no longer has diabetes...all lab work perfect.
As for Alzheimer Prevention, she definitely falls in the
‘if genes load the gun, diet pulls the trigger.’
And she’s tackling this headon. I see my mother in late stages
of dementia & it scares the pants off of me. Karla serves as a good
reminder we do have a choice to be well...not only for ourselves
but for our loved ones caring for us later in life.
