Bluejay, try to calm down. If I had to have another cancer I would choose thyroid. Poo,poo, poo. that's a Jewish thing. We spit three times so that bad luck doesn't touch you. Anyway, it's very treatable. It happened. The tumor board may suggest that nothing be done since it was all removed. And if you have to go for treatment by their recommendations then you'll have to do it. We just can't just sit and wait for the other shoe to drop. That's not living. That's existing. I know it's a shock and hard to take but your going to be OK. the good lord will give you the strength.

Bluejay, I visited the other board. You have so many beautiful women posting there. You are not alone in any of this. We will be with you every step of the way. Sounds like your recovering nicely from the surgery. That's a blessing.

Yes Jackie, there are so many supportive women on the boards. They have been such a blessing to me! I am thankful to be able to come here and to receive such kindness.
I will get through this, it has just been a shock and will take a bit of adjusting...
Thank you so much!

Bluejay-----I guess all I can say is thank god, you got yourself in and had it looked at!!! And now that you know whats going on, you can start the fight!! Grieve now but then put on your gloves and start getting mad and taking control. Find out if there are support groups at your hospital and go to them. That will help alot. Ask your medical team the next time you go in. You need to get the worries out of the way so you can concentrate on your treatments if any.
Don't let the cancer zombies win!!!!

You are so right. I needed time to grieve and learn to accept things. I now realize that it is not as bad as I was feeling a few days ago. It could have been much worse, so I am grateful that it is not. I plan to go to a thyroid cancer support group this Thursday night, if I feel up to it. I went last month and they are very nice and were helpful. That is where I found out about my great surgeon. I am sure they will be glad to have an update and to know that I had my surgery. They were very concerned that it took so long to get to a surgery date.
I am trying to get the courage up to take the next step, as needed.
Great news for you on your results so far! Hope the other one is just as good!
Thanks so much!

Hi Jackie, I am doing better today. As I wrote in the above post, I was just in such shock at hearing about the cancer. I just needed a few days to grieve and learn to accept it. I will do what it takes to become healthy again.
I should hear later this week if the tumor board recommends the radioactive iodine treatment. I will do whatever they say I should do.
Thanks so much for being here for me!

HI girls!! thanks for all your nice words and concern. The MRI results were just fine. Mirrored the results from the 3D mammo so nothing funky lurking there and I'm to back in 6 months for just the 3D mammo. My onc was so crazy busy that I waited an hour to see her. Poor thing!!! My blood work was stellar except for my AST was a little high so need to figure that out. I take Niaspan for high cholesterol issues so that may be the reason. Back in 6 weeks to check that out. And I'm still taking Tamoxifen with good results--no horrible side effects so my dr said that was fine with her. I know I should be on the aromatase drugs but they just wipe up the floor with me. I haven't been back to my natur onc yet--found out that my insurance won't pay for the $3000 of blood labs that I was led to believe they would. No alternative care is covered. I should have called them myself--dumb a*s
me!!!! But am planning on going back in a few weeks and will ask about the mushrooms. I have the brand she likes that I'll try to find and give you the info on.
Blue--glad you are doing better. All this cancer stuff is so stressful and much harder to deal with when you are so sad about it. It's hard to push it all aside and hear the plan of attack (treatment) your team is coming up with. And I was comforted by the fact that I had a medical team helping me decided what to do. And I really liked every one of them and trusted them. And living just 15 minutes away from one of the leading cancer care centers in America, didn't hurt either. Courage is my word I used through out my cancer zombie journey--I didn't think I was courageous at all but I was and still am. Keep us informed and come back when you need us!!!!

Pam, what wonderful news. Cyber drink. When you get good news like this you just want to celebrate. Wow!! 3000 for blood tests. You know in the scheme of life it was probably worth the money. She probably checked things that your gp or oncologist wouldn't have checked.
Bluejay, we all just take a deep breath and carry on. Your going to get through this just fine. Everything will be discussed with you.
I bit the bullet and bought the tria yesterday. Tired of the waxing and plucking. I went to the dentist last week and was touching my chin and felt a stray hair. I was mortified. It's pricey but I said what the heck. If I had to go for laser it would cost a lot more.
Husband is still painting. Lord, this is going to take forever.
