Can anyone recommend a heating pad that actually heats up?

I have no idea what is going on with heating pads. I have a Sunbeam I bought about 4 years ago and it heats up great. Really warm on the highest setting. I bought a Soft Heat brand and it never go hot. Just Luke warm. Same with a brand new Sunbeam from QVCSmiley Sad. Maybe heating pads just don't get hot anymore? I would like to have a good one. ThanksSmiley Happy.

I have a 3 Sunbeam's. I remember when electric blankets got really hot. In fact my dog was burned deeply from sleeping on the element at the foot of my bed years ago. Now they call them "warming blankets", because they fixed that problem.

Thermophore. My husband has bad migraines and has been using this for many years. It gets VERY hot -- and because of this you have to have your finger on the control for it to work. It took us awhile to find this one -- and I agree that others are just about worthless in terms of heat. You can find many different sizes on Amazon.

I got my heating pad yrs ago w/ S&H green stamps. It still heat up. Maybe you just need to return or get a new one.

I think they passed new regulations regarding how hot they can get. They seem to have automatic shut-offs now, too. I guess people were getting burned by them. I've had that happen to me with the older ones.

I have a newer Sunbeam heating pad that I got at Wal-Mart and it gets pretty hot. It does have an automatic shut-off feature on the high setting, I think.

I usually turn it on high to get it hot, and then use it on low, and that keeps it warm enough for me.

Sunbeam is still the best.

I'm sure they put heavy restrictions on heating pads nowadays and how hot they can get. Years ago my elderly dad sat in his recliner with a heating pad on his lower back. The next day he had burn welts where the heating pad had been.
