Other than weight watchers, do you use or recommend an app for tracking calories? Does your app track carbs and calories? Free or paid app?

I love MyFitnessPal. I use the free version. It will suggest that you can upgrade to the paid version but the upgrade is not necessary. It can do more than track calories. You can see your nutritional breakdown for each day. You can track carbs, sugars, fats, protein, sodium, potassium, calcium and more for every meal and snack for a day a week or over time. You can set goal weights and it will calculate how many calories you need per day to achieve the goal. You can add in any physical activity and it can calculate it. The app has been very reliable. It helps you track water intake if you want to. It's easy to use.

Be sure to get one that tracks fats, protein, calcium, and nutrients you need. Important things that make you feel better.

@Sooner @Mindy D @jackthebear

I have no problems maintaining my weight and making food choices. My husband however is the problem! I think a tracking app especially for carbs-high glycemic foods might help him.

@granddi Well, in our case we are older and a year ago started tracking to see if we were getting all the protein, calcium, fiber and other nutrition we need as well as carbs, calories and fats and it has helped us more than I can say

Just trying to be helpful.

I just downloaded an app called Cronometer. It tracks your food and weight. It also shows calories, carbs and fat for each item as well as daily total. It is free but they also have a premium if you want to ay. I am thinking of dropping weight watchers after decades because I am not losing weight and I don't want to take drugs.

I’m using carb manager and am using the paid version however I used the free version for a long time and it was just fine. The only difference I can see is that when you pay you can set up intermittent fasting times and access their member recipes. It’s very easy to use (either version and as I say, the free is very adequate) and I recommend it

Thank you @Sooner i didn't mean to sound unkind. My crazy husband will eat a handfull of quaker oat squares for breakfast. He depends on me to stop him. Has no will power when it comes to carbs. Not a sweet eater but never met a tortilla or potato chip he didn't like. He maintains his weight is is strictly south beach type eating. But as soon as he gets his weight off he reverts back to old ways.

@granddi You described my husband to a t!  I used to say why don't you just go out in the back yard and graze.  He'd eat carbs and sweets because he didn't eat enough at meals--especially protein.

So after I started this a year ago in March he bagan to see that if he ate enough protein, veggies and whole grains and amounts he needed he wasn't carb hungry all the time.  His weight isn't much different, but he feels so much better, and I lost 2 sizes in the last year that I really needed to take off.

I've told him for 40 years but it numbers for him to see.  He never really had a weight issue, but his weight is a little less and easier to maintain, and he talks a lot about feeling 15 years younger.  I will say both of us have more energy for our retirement!  Woman LOL  And me?  NEW CLOTHES!!!!  Woman Embarassed
