My dentist gives his patients the option of gold crowns. He says they last longer. 
My last crown was gold, and so far no issues.

I just found out that my dentist uses zircon crowns...most durable and as good as gold, can be matched in color to your natural teeth. That's what I'm having put in on top of my implants in just a couple of weeks! It has been such a long wait. I'm looking forward to it.

 

ETA -

I meant to say zirconium and not zircon. Oh jeez can you imagine the cost of that if they could actually use it!!  LOL! That would give new meaning to a real sparkling smile.Woman Very Happy

My last crown was Zirconium, my denstist said it is top of the line, so far so good,  been several years.

@Ainhisg  I had one done more than 15 years ago and have never had a problem with it. It was great to be done in one visit.
