I broke my wrist 17 months ago. I am still having so much pain. I have taken a MRI and other exrays and they can't find anything wrong. I got sick from all of the medicines and I am now using ointments that help a little. Has anyone experienced this and what helped?

wow-that's awful!
I would get a 2nd opinion for sure. Something's not right if it still hurts so much.
Did someone set it already or what did they do?

@TerBoop, it sounds like arthritis has set in. Have you seen an ortho? One of the things that they do is give you a shot of cortisone, which would help. Even if you don't want a shot of that, if the pain gets to be too much, which you might already be there, then you will give it a try. There might also be something torn in your wrist. I do hope that you get some medical answers.

Did you and have you continued doing the wrist movements several times a day you were shown by your doctor and/or/therapist? Many do not continue doing this after their pain lessens, and this oft times is the price they pay. Many say "it hurts" doing the exercises. Of course it hurts, but quit doing what is necessary to rehabilitate it?
Wrists, like knees, move in many different directions and angles, which makes keeping them in motion(in every known angle and direction)as much as possible. Fingers and ankles? Not so much.
An MRI, if done with a good strong magnetic machine, will show everything. If you have doubts, do as one of the other posters mentioned, get a 2nd opinion.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I broke my wrist 2 years ago and I'm still doing my wrist exercises 3-4 times a week. I did my exercises faithfully everyday, 3X a day when I was healing. However, I did get carpal tunnel. At this point I went for a 2nd opinion and the doctor sent me to another therapist. She was ruthless as she worked on me. Tears streaming down my face. But carpal tunnel is gone and I have no pain. I hope you get to the bottom of your pain. I think a 2nd opinion is your best option at this point.

I know enough that no ointment can help if there's something happening with the bone. It might not have healed properly. Surely, you know that something is going on and if you have seen a doctor and nothing was done; you need to find another doctor. You know that. It could be that you have developed arthritis in the wrist. I say that because I broke my wrist when I was around 45, it healed nicely but the orthopod pod warned me that since I would most likely develop early arthritis in that wrist. It had something to with the type and location of the break.
