Re: Breathing problems .

[ Edited ]

@MW in Iowa I have been having the same issue.  Also have been experiencing a dry cough but not really a cough.  Kind of like I have to keep clearing my throat cuz it's very dry.  Been going on for 5 months.

Mine is getting worse , but i hold off going to reg doctor if i can make it till 1/27 , In 63 years i rarely have had to go to doctor , and of all times to be sick , i  rarely go out unless for the essentials ,because of Covid. Any other time in my life there would be no reason to worry about going to medical appts.

I couldn't stop coughing. I went to my primary doctor who sent me for a cat scan of my lungs. Something showed up. They waited a few weeks and did another scan. What they saw was still there. They sent me to a pulmary doctor. He saw my scan and I had scarring from pnenomia. He did a breathing test and said I had asthma.The breathing test was nothing to worry about. Just breath into a tube as hard as you can. He gave me pulmicort inhaler. It does take a couple weeks to work. I have a rescue inhaler I keep with me in case I get near smoke or fumes. Yes, when my asthma  is acting up and I climb stairs, I almost have to sit down till I catch my breath.

Do you know if your blood oxygen test low when you are having problems ? Mine does not , so that is why i am wondering what the heck is going on. You would think if you are having breathing problems it would show as low. Of course this is all new to me.

Dry cough? Shortness of breath? These are classic symptoms of covid. It is possible that the covid test you did yielded a false negative! Really. I suggest insisting on a couple more covid  tests. Also, your oxygen finger measurement device might not be working properly.

@Goldengate8361

At what heart rate are your Oxygen Saturation numbers "normal", and what  %  number is "normal for you?

Have you had the Complete Pulmonary Workup? This takes a minimum of 30-45 minutes and measures both Oxygen In and Carbon Dioxide Out?  Several different types of breathing and expelling procedures are done during this time.

Your nose is clipped shut and you breath in and expel out through a tube placed tightly into your mouth. Every breath is measured this way during this particular test.

I have had this test done many times, but mainly to measure my fitness levels and get my Max Vo2(Oxygen Uptake) Numbers. Most recent ones I had 3 times. Twice after my 2 bouts with Pulmonary Embolisms, and once after my fight to stay alive with Aspiration Pneumonia.

Anemia- my experience

@qbetzforreal

I was Anemic for several years caused by my massive amounts of blood loss with my Colon Bleeding. Even when my Hemoglobin number was in the low 7's, a never had a problem breathing, or shortness of breath.

The worst kind of fatigue? Yes, but it did not change my Respiration Rate(at rest was 14 breaths per minute), or my Oxygen Saturation(97-99%) numbers.

My Anemia was caused by Blood and Iron loss, but it never effected my Respiratory or Pulmonary Functions.

I would think finding out why you are having this issue would fall into your "going out is essential" category. Why would one worry about an "essential medical appointment", but not worry about going out for the other "essentials"?
