Re: Breakfast -- what are your thoughts?

@Nonametoday I understand. The tone for the day would be a tinkle.

At the least, a little OJ or cranberry juice.

I drink 32oz of water upon waking up.

That sets the tone for the day.

@sidsmom   If I drank that much water early morning, my bladder would fall out.

I never eat breakfast. Never have. Always in too big of a rush to get out of the house to work. Deep down, I've never understood how people could sit down in the morning and eat. It would slow you down so much. also, a little bit of hunger in the day gives me an edge. I seriously believe I think and work better with a stomach that's not full. I realize that others may be different.

I don't eat breakfast either.  Can't imagine eating and then going to work.  I have notice that if I do eat breakfast I kind of feel tired, and I find that I eat more during the day if I eat first thing in the morning.  I have eaten breakfast for dinner.

Re: Breakfast -- what are your thoughts?

Even as a kid I was never a breakfast eater and I'm still not. I drink black coffee whenever I roll out of bed and usually don't eat anything until supper time. I do have some type of smoothie after I exercise though, but that's because I need to get flax seeds into my diet. I wish I could choke down some scrambled eggs in the morning, but I can't.

We've been told for years --- breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

Must eat breakfast!  Eat a large breakfast.  I also heard that lunch should be light, and dinner also.  Don't eat after a certain time in the evening.

Now, they're saying --- don't eat breakfast!  Why the sudden change???

What do you all feel about this?

All the years I worked, I never ate a proper breakfast except perhaps when I was off.  I would get to work, and perhaps at around 9:30 or so, I would have 1-2 cups of decaf coffee and a protein bar -- that was my breakfast!

Now, that I am retired, I do eat breakfast -- usually within 1/2 hour of getting up.  Cereal, bananna, or something of this nature.

Also --- if you do eat breakfast -- what do you feel is a healthy breakfast?  I was told by several people that cereal is not that good for you.  But I am not much for eggs, and have somewhat high cholesterol.

If you're not supposed to eat breakfast, then do you eat a large lunch???

It's so confusing!  Eat breakfast -- don't eat breakfast! This is good, this is bad!

What do you believe???

Who is "they" and where did you read this?

I can't eat first thing in the morning, and I don't think I should be forcing down food when I'm not the least bit hungry.  Does that make any sense?    I happen to love the Premier Protein shakes - 30gr of protein for 160 calories - and will drink one of those in the morning if I feel I need nutrition before lunch.  Their newest  flavor, Cafe Latte, has a smidge of caffeine in them!

@I am still oxox

I am sorry but I can't give you particular names.  I have been seeing various things on t.v. lately.  Some were saying --- this is old thing about eating breakfast is not true.  And especially not true about breakfast being the most important meal and the biggest meal of the day.

'they'.....am pretty sure OP means what you read in health magazines, or the medical *experts* you see on the morning/evening news or even online.  Can't believe some have never seen this suggested by *them*.

@Lucky Charm

Yes, this is exactly what I'm meaning!  Thank you!!!

For years I have never EATEN breakfast.  I eat my  very healthy dinner at about 4 PM. Nothing after that.   no snacks.  Go to bed about 7 pm.

I wake up about 4AM....I have hot unsweetened almond mild with organic coffee and Medicinal mushrooms in it.  That is all....no FOOD  all day until my dinner at 4PM. Just my almond milk....I take herbs throughout the day and drink lots of water and drink hot tea.

this works for me. I am going on 65.   I feel better NOT digesting food all day while I am busy.  I have no issues with blood sugar or any medical issues.  I am not a triathlon athlete....no need for lots of food.

@SeaMaiden

Wow!  How do you do it?  You must be very thin.  I could never do that.  Don't you get  hungry when you are doing a lot work, such as housework, yard work, etc?

I don't know any more.  I'm getting older and what used to feel good and work for me, seems like it no longer applies.  So, I guess I am trying to find what will be better for me now.
