I commented to the clerk that was pretty good. She said yes, the price is good, but bread is bad for you, we shouldn't eat it. No bread at alll?
Huge loaves of Italian or French bread for just $1? Really? U get what U pay for in this life.
This is nothing but air. Zero nutrition. Whole grain bread provides fiber & nutrition. These white bread HUGE loaves offer nothing but empty calories.

It literally almost makes me nauseous. Whatever those plastic wrapped things they have sitting on the shelf...they are not bread. What I would do for a loaf of good baguette from Wegman's!
I prefer their pane bread myself.
My Wegmans has an area where you can get it still warm!
Next time I have some, I'll think of you!

So I was taught very early how to make it. When I a really busy I use the No Knead method of letting it rise overnight. 4 ingredients, yeast, flour, water, and flour. Dump this in a bowl and stir & cover and let it rise! Within a couple of hrs the next morning you can have a fresh baked boule. I love to bake and I would say bread is my favorite thing to bake. I make fresh dinner rolls and herb breads for guests & love bread books & recipes. I sometimes make and use my own starter for sourdough but you have to use it or lose it & my last one went bad and it's too hot now to start a new one as you need to leve it for about a week to grow on the counter, so that's more winter for me. There is a sprouts up the street that I purchase my grains from. It's one of my favorite things to do so I can read for hours about new methods and recipes....when I have time from my busy jobI only eat my own, homemade bread. I use lots of different recipes/grains, and only eat that in moderation.

No comment to really add per bread (I try to eat at little as possible) but I am really amused at the Clerk's comment.
She certainly is a good ambassador for her employer, LOL. ![]()

Wouldn't ya know they were doing the Vitamix Demo in Costco yesterday and actually had dry containers for sale separate? I think he said 94 something plus 9% sales tax. Oh well I ordered earlier yesterday from Amazon for slightly less and no sales tax and thanks to Prime it will be here this afternoon. Can't beat next day delivery!
Daughter is home for the long weekend from her co-op position so we'll have to find something fun & tasty & healthy to make in the included recipe book.

. I have never used a bread machine either, I still do it all by hand. Very therapudic to knead bread for a few minutes, the end result is so satisfying and it's a great gift to others. I always bring a fresh baked loaf to a new client meeting (I am a property manager for vacation rentals in a resort community) and the homeowners are thrilled to receive it. I also bake something special for each set of new guests that check into the vacation rentals as it's a nice home baked touch for their home away from home. Oh and no it's not bad for me
. I limit myself to just a small slice of home baked bread. When we are extremely busy we eat the Multi Grain from Trader Joes
I would love to see a nice loaf waiting for me when I checked in! I have the dry container for the Vitamix but I rarely grind my own grains. We have a wonderful Co-op here that has bulk organic grains/legumes, etc. I do use my KitchenAid Pro 600 stand mixer to do the bulk of the kneading. I don't have the strength in my right arm to do it anymore.
I have baked and cooked for many years but I had always been intimidated to make bread until about 10 years ago. I had even bought a Breadman bread machine because I didn't think I could do it. Well, thanks to YouTube-I watched some other's do it and gave it a try. It's easy! You really only need flour, water, salt, and commercial or wild yeast, and time. So what if you mess up a loaf or two? That's how you learn. I encourage anyone interested in making bread to give it a try. You can make it gluten-free, skip the preservatives, increase the fiber, however you like it. I made my savory pumpkin bread yesterday, (even through the heat!).
