The K2 MK7 will keep the calcium away from the heart.

I just started going to a new bone health center for my osteop. The NP there asked me if I was taking calcium and vitamin D. I said yes I have been taking those for quite some time plus some other supps to help with my bone density. But the NP did not want to hear about the other supps.  All she wanted to know was about the calcium and vitamin D. I guess all other supps are irrelevant to the medical clinicians. They couldn't care less.

Hi friends.  I recently had a Dexa scan and my doctor said I am headed for osteoporosis. I am going to be 80 in Jan. Had hysterectomy when  I was 50. I have not been very active since covid so I blame myself for not exercising etc. I also have lung fibrosis and that slows me down. My doctor said I should start taking calcium 600mg twice a day and vitamin D 2000mg once a day during summer and in winter I should take 4000 mg of D. I think this is so high. I remember reading not good things about taking calcium. I take OFEV twice a day for my lung fibrosis to slow it down and get some side effects from that.  Any thoughts? Thanks for listening.

Vitamin D helps the body absorb more calcium. It sounds like you need to absorb as much calcium as possible. You don't want to fall and break something.

It doesn't matter what posters think. If you're concerned, ask your doctor about it.

I think I have had three tests, one every two to three years and my doctor said they were normal. I do have stiffness in my lower back and recently brought the two pack of Tommy Copper tanks which to my surprise helps a lot.  I take Andrew Lessman calcium and my GYN doctor who is big on vitamins and supplements suggested I take D3 with K2 with my calcium.

I have been doing chair yoga in the morning and can finally walk not as long as I  use to but significantly better and longer since wearing my Tommy Copper tees.

Why take vitamin D supplements? Just get outside in the sunshine and take a walk! It's a twofer. Your getting your vitamin D naturally and you are getting exercise to help your bone density count.

@ID2 : Easier said than done. Some people a handicapped or with various mobility issues. Some people can be very harsh with their statements- but I'm happy that you are able to go out side for your vitamin D.

Re: Bone Density

Getting vitamin D through sun exposure comes with significant health risks especially for some people who are prone to skin cancer. Health professionals recommend diet and supps for obtaining an adequate amount of vitamin D rather than sun exposure.

I live at high elevation and the sun's damaging rays are worse here than at sea level. There is a higher incidence of skin cancer in this area b/c of that. I would not go out into the sun w/o sunscreen and that goes on my skin all yearlong.

Yes, remember that Vit D only penetrates when there is no sunscreen.  For may years I sat outside for 25 minutes daily with no sunscreen on my arms and legs, and now what I am left with is a slew of brown spots, no thanks

@nyc1 I agree with you on the Vitamin K2 MK7.  I don't take his brand but another.  Started about a year ago when my previous PCP told me my results would lead me to many broken bones soon.  I also started calcium pills and collagen powder in my hot tea at night.  Thankfully my NEW PCP told me that my bone density tests were actually good and my previous PCP just wanted the kickback on the Prolia shots.  A scam by him at my health expense.  My new doctor applauded me for being savvy and not believing the other doctor.  All good now!  But still taking everything.  Never felt better.

I've read that Vitamin D is absorbed better if you take it with something that has a little bit of fat.
