Light dumbbells are not real effective if you want a real workout and could never give the results the body blade does as to do so you would have to keep increasing the weight to at least 30 or more lbs. - believe me I know and since having to give up the heavier weights due to nerve damage, I am way more toned than ever! If you've never used one you can't make the judgement that it's a gimmick!!

Believe me, I know too!!! I have been working out in the gym my entire life. I have also been certified by the NASM in nutrition and personal truing. I had a personal trainer 3 times a week/every week for 15 years. He prepared men and women for body building championships. We worked out together and I can tell you without a doubt, if you do not belong to a gym, then dumbbells are extremely effective. You begin with light and you gradually work up. You don't need to have 30 pounds in each hand in order to see incredible results. You also don't need a gym. Cardio, ab training and a great at home problem using dumbbells can get you in just as good a shape. If your in better shape using the body blade then I don't know what in the world you were doing before. If people don't know what to do or can't afford help then go to Beachbody and get the "Original P90" (not P90X or northe new ones). P90 uses dumb bells UNDER 30 pounds, has cardio and ab work and in 90 days you will be a different person.

We keep ours in front of the TVs. They are great for adding variety in your workout. During a commercial break I can go through the basic exercises, and can also do lunges with them a'wobblin'.

Varying your workout, and doing a little here and there, adds up. I have a few light dumbells and a bosu ball in front of a TV, too. And these rotating hand-holds that you do pushups on, or at least try to. Smiley Wink Then there is the elliptical, all in front of the blessed TV.

BTW we've had ours for years, got them at SNBC, and I've written here before, they are one product I am never sorry I bought. I dislike exercising, so it's hard to truthfully say I love the product, but it's a good product, especially for adding to your routine. Inexpensive, well-made and doesn't take up much room at all. - Bird

Haven't seen Marie's item but have a couple that use the resistance tubing that I love - seems like the person's name was Greer something ( they aren't at this house right now or I would look). It has a bar that one can twist to adjust the tension of the red tubing and add additional weight resistance. The exercises are even printed on the bar. Very, very sturdy - I really like them.

I have both items....body blade and Greer's resistance bar...and use both. I rotate my useage to keep from getting bored. Run, pilates, yoga and some wts/resistance. The body blade is not as easy as it looks and 5 minutes seems like forever when you are just starting out. I do feel like it works for me to keep my arms, shoulders and back toned.

I bought one more than several years ago. When I cannot do my usually arm workout I grab this and do it a few times a day. I like it, it's just an extra piece of equipment that takes up no room. There are times when I can't work for weeks at a time and this helps from losing all my tone. It does work.

Kiss I agree with Loopy Loo…I bought the body blade a few months ago. I have bad knees and a bad back, but I thought I would give it a try for arms, core, etc. I don't have a problem with it when I use it, except for the fact that it makes my hands absolutely stink! The rubber smell is pretty overwhelming, so I use it while I watch a TV show and then have to scrub my paws and put on hand lotion. I'm not sure it is working any miracles, but I'll keep trying for awhile and see how it goes. Could be another "off to the Goodwill store" item.

It is an example of why I don't watch QVC live. I love gadgets and when I did watch I bought it among other really strange and useless items. It sits in a closet, even exercise hubby doesn't use it. Not sure what to do with it and I have a full set of instructions.

Perhaps now that you mentioned it I might get it out. Perhaps I can attach a dust rag to it and reach high places. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

you tube has some great short how to videos on how to use the body blade. I use it for arm and shoulder work...along w other exercises. It is a weird gadget and I do feel it the next day if I manage to get in enough time. very hard for me to do more than 10 minutes.
