I agree with it being a diagnostic code for billing purposes.

I am not sure what the exact iron test was, however I know that the ranges lowest ok point was a 9 and mine was 6, I also know the high range went up pretty high. I am still here and have since tested ok with my iron.

Glad you say "I am still here". Whatever test was run, a good doctor would make sure their patient understood exactly what it meant.
I doubt it was an accurate reading regardless of whether it was a Hemaglobin or Ferritin Iron number. A true 6.0 reading in either, you would have had major problems functioning at your normal levels for very long, much less over a year.
