@Nightowlz : Very interesting information and questions. I will do more research on the fitbit flex. Thanks.

Amazfit by Amazon records steps, heart rate, sleep, etc. Goes to App on smartphone!

I have the apple watch that does a great job----had a Fitbit--it just tracked the movement of my arm---was doing 1000 "steps" every morning just getting out of bed and down the stairs, even tho it did not involved that many actual steps---

@SouthernBee I was doing a search online and you might want to look at earbuds or headphones - there are some that track steps. My new hearing aids will do that for me.

Im on my second fitbit alta. It's very simple and syncs up with your cell phone easily. I don't need all the bells and whistles of some fit bits and apple products. My Alta tells me the steps and miles I walk which is all I want. It can record sleep, too, but I don't.
Its a very good way to get yourself going. I try to best my steps from the day before. Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. I usually get between 90000-12000 a day. Hope you find one you like, they help.

That arm movement adds the steps. I put my fitbit in my pants pocket. I have counted as I walked to see if it got the right amount of steps. It does for me. At least I have some idea how much I'm walking.

@SouthernBee , I swear by a small pocket pedometer purchased through Amazon, "Pedusa PE-771". $13.87.
Put it in your pocket, and it tracks steps, minutes walked, calories burned, distance travelled. It also comes with a clip if you'd prefer to wear it that way.
I keep mine in my pocket all day, whether I'm going for a "walk", or just going about my daily chores.
It's not hard to program, really, though I find it best not to think too much about it and just follow the instructions. It's not as easy as some of the newer devices - it's linear, and you have to push a few buttons, but it works beautifully!

@Sweetbay magnolia :I have this one and was having much trouble trying to reset it and put the pedometer app on my cell phone.

Hi, @SouthernBee . Mine doesn't use an app - it's just raw data.
Total steps reset automatically at some point (I don't even pay attention to that - just the daily steps) - the daily steps reset automatically at midnight (it has an internal clock, which is handy for knowing the time).
There is a manual reset button, also.
I've compared it to what my iPhone health app records and it's close. And it's a small kidney shaped thing that you can't even feel in your pocket. Comes in cute colors.
Anyway, luck finding something that works, and keeps you motivated!
