My doctor told me to take psyllium fiber.  I looked at Metamucil, but it is filled with other "stuff" like citric acid, sugar or artificial colors and sweetners. I did not want any of that "stuff".

I found the Konsyl brand and it is just 100% psyllium fiber.  I mix it in ice cold water and it it not too bad, taste wise.  I always make sure to drink an adequate amount of water daily too.

Very informative thread!  Where does a product like Citrucel fit in here?  I did a little research on it, but what do you all think?

Citrucel contains many artificial ingredients including artificial sweetener, color and flavor. The active ingredient is methycellulose which is another chemically processed product.  I wouldn't take it myself.

I have been taking the Walmart equivalent to Benefiber for the last 11 years. This was on the advice of my gastro doc for added fiber in my diet. I dissolve 2 teaspooons in the morning in a glass of water.  I cant swear what good it is doing me but I just continue to take it.

I didn't care for it, didn't work for me and made my stomach very uncomfortable!!!

I’ve read that a morning glass of warm lemon water (juice of half a lemon and 8 oz. of warm water) is good for the digestive system as well as other things.  Has anyone done this.  I’m going to try it - started this morning.

Does anyone here use fiber supplement for IBS-D?  I was diagnosed with IBS-D about 25 years ago and I'm a little ashamed to admit Citrucel was recommended to me by my Dr and I've been taking it since.  It works so I didn't question it.  I'm becoming more aware of what I put in my body, so this is on my radar now.

@JeanLouiseFinch How is it going? Did you start drinking the lemon water? What are the issues you are trying to help, if you don't mind me asking.
