Every so often, I get this weird sensation where it feels like someone has taken a string & is pulling the back of my belly button. Has anyone experienced that? or knows the cause?

It doesn't really hurt but it's just a strange feeling.

Google abdominal pain and see what you come up with.

Gas? I've heard you can experience gas in the shoulder.  Sounds strange - but who knows?

Could be an umbilical or ventral hernia. Is the sensation more noticeable when straining? Do you ever notice a bulge in the area?

Don't know about everyday gas but I do know that the gas they use for laparoscopic surgery will travel into the shoulders; and hurt!

I don't know why you are getting that feeling BUT, I do know that if it persist you should see your doctor & let him tell you why 😄

Have you ever had surgery around there? It could be adhesions....

Is "belly" a regional term?    The reason I ask is that I've never seen it used unless the word "button" came right after it.    Usually, it's stomach, abdomen ... or even tummy.

Bugonbike - No, I don't feel it when straining and there's no bulge or anything. It's very random and sporadic.
