A little rant-and I will suffice it to say I suspected the outcome......an acquaintance who I know is a BB coach put on FB that a new exercise program was coming out and she was doing a test group for it and if you wanted to be in the group fill out this small questionaire. I have been in a rut lately and figured why not-it may be just the motivation I need, something different. I get a respone thru my email and first of all she doesn't even get my name right in her "personal reply". Then it goes on to tell me how I get X amount of DVDs, free streaming for a certain period of time (don't care), large supply of shakeology and some vitamins, all "free", but to "hold my spot" in the test group it will cost about $200.00! I responded that if she wanted me to spend almost $200.00 she could at least get my name right!
Sigh....I knew better, I really did but at the same time I always have hope....I just really was looking for some motivation, friendship, being with people of like minds...I figured it was going to cost something-nothing is free but I guess it kind of hurt my feelings that she couldn't even get my name right. Geesh. Lesson learned-again.

I have participated in several different types of "test groups" over the decades. Never paid anything for any of them, and in 2 of them, I was the one getting paid the $$$. My motives were never to make money, or because I needed motivation.
My reasons were mostly to work with, and for, people working on learning more about certain parts of the human body, and 1 was for a body's need for mineral replacements, after "X" amount of time running. Me pay for being a "test group? No way they would get me involved, and $200?
Sorry this turned out this way for you, but I learned decades ago, that I need to motivate myself to do certain things. Sometimes reading about others doing things that are not easy for most of us. Other times I have a long talk, with Q&A, with myself to "get it done".
My mother drove it into myself and my 3 older sisters at a very young age, "Life will be easier for you if you do not need to depend on anyone but yourself". That set in well in my mind and if nothing else, up to my age now, I have always been an independent teen/young man, and now a real old independent fa*t.
Hurt you feelings and you describe her as "an acquaintance"? Were that my way of life, I would have spent much of my time having hurt feelings. I had enough experiences with a "hurt body" to even being the least bit concerned about my feelings. As a hockey referee, many people knew my name, but even though my 1st name starts with a "J" and has 4 letters in it, they chose other 4 letter words to call me.
Hope things get you to where it is you want to go. Forget this "acquaintance" and move on.

These 'programs' just get my goat.
Maybe it's a Right of Passage for all of us to spend a stupid amount
of time, money & programs for years trying to lose weight & get healthy
when the answer was right underneath our nose.
I know I did.
Then one day, you read/hear about a plan which sounds SO easy
and super cheap, to boot. In fact, all the information to get started
is free...and the support is free, as well. All food can be bought in any grocery story, anywhere. Clean, simple. If adherence is 100%
results will be rapid...blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugars will drop quickly, aches/pains will lessen considerably, sleep will be better &
weight will drop as a nice side effect. All this w/out hours at the gym.
Low fat, whole foods, plant based.
In particular, Dr. John McDougall.
The entire program is free on his website...and there are numerous
Facebook Groups (largest has 20,000+members, McDougall Friends)
...all wanting you & everyone to succeed. Success story after
success story after success story...without spending a dime for the information.
If you don't like this program, just Google 'plant-based doctors'.
Pick one. Any one. The message & results will basically be the same
for all. Be prepared though....results will be quick! HTH!

I've used Beachbody workouts for years and have gotten good results. The $99 for an entire year of their on demand programming is an awesome deal and you never have to pay another dime and get access to every single program they have released and every new one that comes out. I have not, however, ever used one of their coaches. I feel it's all just a pyramid scheme and designed to get you to spend additional, unnecessary money. They become coaches to make money. I'm sure many are success stories themselves, and want to help with coaching & encouragement, etc, but there is always that lurking financial consideration & sales pitch.
If you wanted to connect with others, I know the beachbody boards are open to anyone and you can participate as much as you like. Again, I'm not an expert because I track my own progress myself, and have used the My Fitness Pal app here and there at times. I only use the service for the videos. So, I guess I personally wouldn't worry too much about being in a "test" group, because with the on demand subscription, you can "test out" a bunch of different workouts. I tend to stick with one until it finishes, following the calendar, but I do get bored sometimes and I enjoy the Challenge du Jour which is a random, different workout each day.
Best of luck with all of it - we are all in this eternal struggle to get healthier & lose weight together I guess!

Thanks for the advice guys!
Hckynut you are absolutely right-and I know that I should only depend on myself to get things done. I know better.
I am normally very good at discipline, motivation and with my diet, exercise, being healthy but over the past few months I've just been in a rut. My son was getting married and while it is of course a happy time it was also a stressful time with the preparations, etc. and on top of all that I lost one of my fur babies in March and it has been rough! He was a magnificent creature. It has rocked my world.
I know the days will get better and I look forward to that. In the mean time I am going to force myself to get "back on the wagon" and get back to being active, exercising because I know that in of itself will make me feel better.
As far as the BB thing that happened-I don't care about it anymore really. I have some of their DVDs that I enjoy though.
Thanks again and Happy Mothers Day to everyone!
