Couple weeks ago I went to lift a tub of clothing and heard this absolutely horrid sound in my lower left back/hip.  I thought for sure I broke something.  I screamed out in pain and made my way to the chair.  I could barely move and my entire body was on fire inside (or at least it felt that way).  I just laid to one side for about 20 minutes having chills.  I was petrified to try and move.  After a while after all not and cold flashes subsided, I attempted to move ever so slowly to see if I could stand.  I went to the chiro and they sent me for xrays.  They did not show any fractures.  She wants me to go for a bone density test but I have to go to my reg physician and have a physical FIRST  before they would do that.  I went back to chiro again and they did a small bit of adjustment.  She didn't want to over do it.  She told me to use ice and not heat as heat relaxes muscles.  I can barely walk and keep losing my balance.

You're so fortunate that you don't have more damage although it sounds so painful.  Hopefully you'll feel better soon.  Please don't get tangled in your blankets, being a blanket taco never works out!

Gosh, @Luvsmyfam   You're a walking disaster.  Seems like every week, its something different.  I've been fighting severe, chronic back pain almost 40 years.  I can only stand less than 5 min then must sit to relieve it.  Can't take any meds for it including Tramadol, and I've tried every treatment known.  I do use Lidocaine patches which help some.  I find heat aggravates my condition.  I get much more relief from ice packs.

Hope you get better soon.  Just be glad you can walk and stand.  Be careful with the Tramadol....it made me so dizzy, I fell down.

I'm so sorry to those of you suffering from back pain.  I'm 73 and I've lived with it since I was 12.  I have a condition called spondylolisthesis.  (Yes, I've even learned to spell it without a dictionary!)

I didn't get any relief until I was finally talked into seeing a chiropractor when I was about 35.  (Thank you, dear cousin.)  I went to him 2 or 3 times a week and he was VERY helpful.  (We had very good insurance back then.)   I did back exercises every day for about 10 years.

Then my chiropractor suggested a TENS unit, which had just been invented by 3M.  (Again, good insurance.)  It was VERY helpful.  The first ones went for about $600.  Now you can buy one for about $30. Smiley Happy

When I was about 55 or so, I had a job where I had to sit all day, with only a few rest room breaks in an 8 hour period.  My back would "burn" by lunch time.  I decided I HAD to have more pain relief.  I did some research and finally found a "pain doctor" who was willing to prescribe opiate pain relief.  I have to see him once every 4 weeks and occasionally have a "clean" urine.  (They want to be sure you're taking your pain medication... not selling it or WHATEVER.)  I'll be taking it for the rest of my life.

Now, between heat, ice, TENS unit and pain medication, I'm able to function.  I still have pain but it's tolerable.
