Please forgive me LilacTree for copying your similar thread on an RX.

I did this to find out if anyone else uses this for pain?  My doctor gave me the RX to use in between my Oxy as more than 2 pre day of Oxy make me itch.

For me this works a little on pain.  The OTC's don't do anything except for @dvil which helps slightly.

It sure is nice to compare notes with others here, thank you.

I have been using the below since the 80's for my migraines.  In the beginning I could cut one in half and now 30+ years later I sometimes need to take two.  But most often I take plain old aspirin about an hour prior to my med.'s to get a boost first.  Migraines can last for three days of unending pain.  Never had a problem with the medicine in all this time.

Fiorinal contains a combination of aspirin, butalbital, and caffeine

Thanks Becky!  Glad it works for you!

Mine has tylenol and caffine and for some reason I'm not hungry after I take it, must be the caffine, right?

I just got MRI results (head) and besides a pineal cyst I've been suffering with a buldging eye after a bought of Trigeminal nerve pain, sigh... The results emailed to me through radioligy said I have vessel Ishemic.  Hopefully my doctor will go over this with me today via phone.

I use it for migraines.  It contains a sedative which helps me.

I have long taken Fiorinal for severe muscle tension headaches. Now that I’m retired I don’t need it often. Works much better than just taking Advil but isn’t as strong as codeine.

My sister takes butalbital for her migraines. Sometimes it helps; sometimes not.

@Jackhound Mom Hi. I use to take Fiorinal and then I started having stomach issues. I had to switch to Fioricet, better on my stomach. If your pill has Tylenol instead of the Aspirin, you are taking Fioricet. As another person said, Fiorinal has the aspirin. That is why the Fiorinal can work better than the Fioricet. The aspirin boosts the effect. I hope you find relief. Take care.

My DH gets migraines fairly often. He has 2 RX, one for Fiorinal, one Fiorinal with Codeine, he uses both at different times, has used these for years.

I took this years ago and I'd have to go lie down.  It worked, but it made me kind of high and I really couldn't function.

@Jackhound Mom

I had an RX for this and the other one mentioned for at least 20 years.

I was taken off it and not allowed to take it EVER again, my neurologist said. It was for migraines, and nothing bad happened when it was removed from me.

I had just entered menopause, thank goodness.
