Autoimmune Symptoms and Mattresses

While wondering about my symptoms and possible causes, I found this on an internet search:

“Recently while at the chiropractor for pain associated with my Lupus, he was asking about my diet ... told him that I have a tempur pedic mattress he said to look up tempur pedic and autoimmune disease.”

This information may be outdated....

Are you aware of any considerations relating to this?

Re: Autoimmune Symptoms and Mattresses

@LTT1I can't speak to that study, but I can relate an experience I've been having recently.  Because I couldn't fall back to sleep after an hour or two of good sleep, I was moving from my bed to a leather sofa where I was able to fall back into sleep.

The problem was that I was waking up with all the symptoms of dry mouth - sometimes to the degree that it was difficult to open my mouth!  I have a friend who has a diagnosed immune disease - dry mouth is only one of her many problems.

I was ready to head to my doctor - but first I tried staying off that sofa which was the only difference in habit I could think of.   Success-  pretty much the end of my symptoms.  And I'm going to buy a new sofa and maybe even replace the carpeting with hard flooring in an attempt to avoid another attack.

Wonder if Tempurpedic and my sofa have anything in common?

@millieshops

Interesting!

In my search about mattresses, there was an article I skimmed that mentioned questions to be asked before purchasing any furniture because of finishes used in manufacturing.

One chemical that I am sure you are aware of is formaldehyde.

Another one mentioned is that all states used to require flame retardant chemicals on mattresses, and now it is not a requirement.

I don’t know which ones might be on upholstered furniture such as sofas. HTH

IMO...if one is that sensitive to external elements,

we need to fix the internal body.

And the first & best way is through nutrition.

Food can play such a huge role with healing a body.

Sometimes environmental factors can override diet.  Like smog, pesticides.

But most of the time, diet overrides environmental factors.

And diet/nutrition is something one can control every.single.day.

Everybody is right here, guys.

The world is not black and white and neither are we and neither are our surroundings.

Yes, diet is important, but if you are sitting in the middle of a moldy "swamp" (whatever that may be, mattress or the walls of your home or whatever), you are going to feel the effects even if you're eating the most nutritious diet you can.
