Ativan question

I have been taking 4 - 5 ativan pills a week (usually a night) I have been seen by a Doctor and I told him I think I needed to increase the dosage. He was very vague with his answer. I just needed some opinions about this medication and was wondering how much others take of this. Again - I do have a Doctor.
