Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition. I have osteoarthritis in several joints.  My hands and fingers are especially painful.  I keep my hands warm as that seems to help.

No, osteoA is not deforming and rheumatism is.

My FNP doesn't want me to get started on the hard stuff like steroid shots and high end drugs.

Nsaids are Ibuprofen, aleve, etc. They do some good

@SharkE - Do you mean rheumatoid arthritis?  Rheumatism is something else.

Try Voltaren, OTC.  It helps my arthritic knees.

I've been putting Voltaren on my ankle and leg this week and it's given me blisters all around my ankle.

How odd....helps my hands.  Ben Ga  y, I'm afraid to get in my eyes. Had cataract surgery don't want to mess with that. Also, bought the Equate brand of creme too.

Just bought that hand massager a gal recommended too.

Hi there, I also found that Voltaren was the only thing that worked on arthritic hands.  It's a little pricey but Walmart has the generic brand under the Equate label called Diclofenac Sodium.  For me it worked just as well.  It takes about 1/2 hour to work.  I think target also has a generic also.  Give it a try

wonder why so many people are bothered by arthritis?

Can't just be aging. Water?, air?, food? genetics?

crying shame

Just throwing this out there.  Avoid ALL NSAIDS if you have any kidney issues and research any/all supplements you're considering, for the same reason.
