This is what your jeweler could install and you could wear your ring. The second opens completely.

Some days I wake up and the middle finger on my right hand is sticking straight up. Perhaps it reflects a deep seeded attitude toward the world.{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.

I checked out the links and it is way over my price range. Starts at $500.00 and up. Would be nice if they had silver instead of gold.

Look, I'm 68 years old. I have arthritis all over my body. You can see it in my fingers (knuckles). I have huge lumps on the joints.

I can't wear regular bangles because the joint that goes below my thumb near my palm is so large.

A long time ago several Drs have always told me to get one of the manicure things that holds hot wax. When my hands hurt bad, I wash my hands good, put on a plastic glove (sometimes) and dip them in the wax. It really helps with the pain.

Also I exercise them. I have a small ball about the size of a hard baseball but it's rubber. I can deflate and inflate it by pushing a hole on the ball. I use this (squeeze) it to help me be able to keep strength and flexibility in my hands.

Another thing that can be done is to get some jacks (you know like when you were a kid, ball and jacks. The big ones work best. Working the flexibility required is really good to help with your dexterity.

Apple Head.... I have the same problem. I have tons of rings in size seven that I can't wear on my right hand. I try to wear them on my left hand but the size 7 is a bit too big and keeps turning around which really bugs me. Like you, I just woke up one day with a huge knuckle and it's been like that ever since. I have bad osteoarthritis (I already got 2 new hips) so there really isn't anything I can do except take my pain pills and anti-inflammatories.

I know how you feel. All I can say is try another finger on the other hand.

As for Hckynut's reply - I think his response was cavalier and somewhat demeaning. I mean must every single problem we complain about be major? Minor problems take their toll on people also.

Good luck, Gail

One thing I do is because I need a size bigger to get over knuckles I buy one a little smaller to make them stay on (I lost weight, so I had to do that anyway).

One thing you can do (even QVC sells them, I think) buy the tapes that go around the rings like when you were young and had a boyfriend and wore his ring.

Not knowing your age, I would guess it's the beginnings of osteoarthritis. However, you should also be tested for rheumatoid arthritis (due to the swelling) as that is a far more serious condition.

Ford, you are so right and there are many types of arthritis that are autoimmune. If that's the case you need to be on medication to stop the progression. Nothing to mess around with.
